Every part of porous New Orleans Saints defense needs serious offseason makeover

It might sound illogical but the New Orleans Saints' disastrous season-ending performance was the best thing that could have happened to them Sunday.

The last thing this team needed was to be lulled into a false sense of security going into the offseason.

That would have been putting the proverbial lipstick on a pigskin. A three-game season-ending winning streak might have persuaded team officials to foolishly maintain the status quo in 2013. It might have convinced them that they were on the right track to playoff contention again.

Now there's no way they make such a mistake.

Isn't every position evaluated and scrutinzed every year?

Probably not on the scale that is needed here; I can't think of a single player on defense that could/should consider himself untouchable.

Agreed WD626!

Whioe I wished for 8-8 .500 yesterday, it would have been good for record's sake to close the year on, the books on.
Reality underneath is it would have not been really that. So secure.

I really believe the Saints should have, could have won, from the whole year two more games and finished 9-7.

Offense had some tough games. Offense came back a few times.
Brees had some awful games in being off and others in which he was trying too much , too quickly , not thinking on his feet, reading that field, resulting in a few pic easy pic offs and sometimes a few of them in one game.

Defense is lacking and has been the whole year. The entire defense coaching staff down to the defense players were lacking.
If I were Steve Spagnuolo, I would want to leave this mess before it damages his pretty good career. He came in, in fairness, at a bad time. There was no HC named Sean Payton to start and you know the rest.

Defense needs first priority to be scraped.
Defense coaches too.
Missed tackles and no effort was the worst. Taking Gatorade breaks on the sidelines while offense was out there.
That is only what we fans saw of the filed.
WTH did they do on film day, practice, workouts, and hmwk. with film and playbook on their own? I can only imagine. Where is the club?
Making it rain with their big pays in their private lives or the club.

I am confident , you bet, Sean Payton has been dvd-ing every game. Making his notes every game on every player and every coach, every game on every play.
I am hopeful some folks won't be here in June. Some players are coming back as new people as in working with effort this year.
