Drew Brees offers high praise for Tony Romo as he aims to alter perception

One Super Bowl MVP already believes Romo is in a position to take the next step. Romo drew high praise from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees after the Saints’ 34-31 victory at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday.

“He’s having a great season. He played extremely well (Sunday),” Brees said of Romo. “I have a lot of respect for Tony Romo. He gets more criticism than he deserves because of the Cowboys’ mystique.”

Agreed.

Wanna guess who has the highest 4th quarter rating in the entire NFL?

Our defense?

Has Brees ever said anything negative toward another player ever? He has to shake Romo's hand each time he beats him. Romo had a better December than he has in the past, but he is not a big game QB, sorry. Alot like Matty Ice.

I would rather have Romo as QB than Matt Ryan

The thought of either one in a Saint uniform makes me ill.

I didn't say as Saints QB, but if I were given a choice between Romo and Ryan to be the Saints QB, I would choose Romo.

If Romo flames out as a Cowboys QB, who knows he could end up as a backup with the Saints. Stranger things have happened, so never burn bridges.

I hope some of you don't twist my words but under Sean Payton and the offense we have in place Tony Romo woul do well in New Orleans. and yes I'd take him any day over Matt Ryan

It's Drew being politically correct and the consumate professional he is, nothing more. Tony Choko does have flashes of brilliance, but I generally agree more with the backup QB scenario. And I would take him over Ryan, but would trust neither to win me a SuperBowl.

<ducking>

Tony Romo isn't what's wrong with the Cowboys. I always liked Romo actually, and was a Dallas fan growing up and until Jurrah took over.

That was very nice of Brees to say.

However, Romo still sucks. He doesn't suck AND blow like Sanchez, but that's nothing to be too terribly proud of.

I'd take Ryan over Romo. Romo looks really good at times but he's the king of all choke artists. I've always thought Ryan was a good QB.

True, just because he's a Falcon doesn't mean he sucks. But personally I'd take Romo over Ryan because I feel Ryan is a system QB. Romo is more talented and would probably thrive under a coach like Payton (who tried to trade for him before settling for Drew).

I don't think Ryan would improve dramatically under Payton, but Romo would.

One thing about our QB he certainly is a gracious individual.
