this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I can tell you this, even though the Saints started out 0-4 under Aaron Kromer, I firmly believe he was the better coach out of him and Vitt, if Carmichael was the one calling the plays, he was too conservative ...

I can tell you this, even though the Saints started out 0-4 under Aaron Kromer, I firmly believe he was the better coach out of him and Vitt, if Carmichael was the one calling the plays, he was too conservative once the team had a 14 pt lead or more.

my rankings:

#1 Kromer
#2 Vitt
#3 Carmichael

But I can tell you this, I wont be disappointed in seeing either Kromer or Carmichael leave. Carmichael leaving changes nothing, Kromer was the O-line coach and since this is also an offensive side coach, it will affect nothing with Sean Payton coming back.

You mean just like Curtis Johnson leaving to coach tulane didn't affect nothing with the WRs who all of a sudden lead the leauge in drops?

True, or how after Allen left to Denver the secondary has seen a drastic decline.

Anyway, I hope Kromer doesn't go anywhere, because I do think he is probably one of the best O-line coaches in the league at the moment, and I don't think he has what it takes to be a HC... probably not even an OC.

If it's only a lateral move for either one of them, like the article suggests might be the case, I don't see either one going to another team unless the Saints don't offer them new contracts or if there's some bad-blood we're not aware of.

I really like Kromer. He gets the most possible out of Bushrod and Strief imho. Also look how de la Puente has developed since he joined us, he'll be a prowbowler in a year or two.

Barring a coordinator position opening up (extremely unlikely) there’s no reason for Kromer to leave the Saints either.

This sums up why I'd hate to lose Kromer.

I can't deny the drop off after Curtis Johnson's departure, but for the guys who have been here for a long time (they all have), I find it hard to believe that they suddenly forgot how to catch. You can't blame that on a coach not being there. It was a lack of focus, just like every other facet of this team, this season.

And our offensive line wasn't exactly the bees knees this year, either. So in closing, I don't care what our assistant coaches do. They operated a team without it's head coach, and it looked exactly like a team without it's head coach. That shows me that none of these assistants are essential to the teams' success. Payton Is.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: Saints Coaching Issues Continue?

Curtis Johnson was here in 2010 and our receivers had the same issues.

He's a great WR coach, but i'm not buying he's the main reason for our drops.

A Sean Payton boot placed firmly upon backside is what the main problem is.

If you review all the drops this year, 95% was because the receivers took their eye off of the ball and looked up-field before they caught it. Totally agree with you a Payton foot would have helped!

Not sure I would go 95% on that one.... Ive watched Jimmy Graham eye them right into his hands and then onto the turf. I have also watched Sproles do the same exact thing... watch them right into his hands.

I'm not all that familiar with the position coaches but I'm thinking any coaching issues are trickle-down-affect from the one big coaching issue we had this season.

For all that went on this season, I kinda' just want to sit back and see if it corrects itself when Payton gets back. If it doesn't, than start lopping off heads.
