Streif Wins "Good Guy" Award

Quote:

New Orleans Saints right tackle Zach Strief has been named the 2012 Jim Finks Good Guy Award, the Pro Football Writers of America announced.

Strief, who recently completed his seventh season with the Saints, is one of the most accessible players on the Saints roster and is viewed as a team leader. This past season he served as one of the Saints' team captains.

The Good Guy Award, which is named for former Saints General Manager Jim Finks is presented annually by members of the New Orleans chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America to a Saints player for his qualities and professional style in helping media members do their job.

Strief follows other recent winners, including Malcolm Jenkins (2011), Scott Shanle (2010), Jon Stinchcomb (2009), Deuce McAllister (2008), Scott Fujita (2007) and Drew Brees (2006). Brees won the national Good Guy award in 2009.

Maybe that's his problem. He needs a mean streak in him like Jahri Evans or Carl Nicks. Leave the nice guy awards for the punter or placekicker lol

Anyway, congrats to Strief.

Yeah, he needs to be surpassed as the starting RT by someone - hopefully Marcel Jones.

Strief is a good depth guy to have around, but not a true starter caliber player.

Damn you Belair. I was going to say that and look smart all day long but you blew that for me. Thanks for nothing!

Saints tied for 3rd with NE for least sacks allowed. Unless he gave up all of them he can't be too bad.

Those guards they have coupled with how Brees plays is the biggest reason why there were so few sacks on Brees.

Strief and Bushrod (to a lesser decree I admit) are the beneficiaries of those to components, which make them seem better than they are.

What does that mean? He must be the 'friendly giant' type that's always available for post-game interviews and not some anonymous, inside source I hope.
