NFL Rumors: New Orleans Saints Coordinator Signing With Another Team?

With Sean Payton locked up for the next five years the New Orleans Saints‘ coaching staff is getting solidified. Payton will resume the head coaching position of the Saints and look to return the team to former glory. However, Payton may have to do it without one of his coordinators.

Saints’ offensive coordinator Peter Carmichael Jr. is set to be a free-agent this off-season and there is speculation he could be on the move. Carmichael interviewed with the Chicago Bears last week about their head coaching vacancy but now there is another team that is interested in his services.

Former Syracuse and newly hired Buffalo Bills head coach, Doug Marrone, is allegedly trying to sway Carmichael to come be the offensive coordinator for the Bills. Marrone is eager to revamp the Bills and apparently sees Carmichael as a good choice for his offensive coordinator.

However, it will be difficult for Marrone to get Carmichael to Buffalo. Due to league policy the Saints could block this move because Carmichael is being pursued as a coordinator and not a head coach. Furthermore, many believe that Carmichael will ultimately stay in New Orleans with Payton and quarterback Drew Brees.

While it seems unlikely that Carmichael will be going anywhere any time soon it does not mean it will not happen. Carmichael has been one of the best offensive coordinators in the NFL for a few years as is evident by the Saints’ great offense. Carmichael will most likely stay in New Orleans but we do not know anything for sure yet.

"Carmichael has been one of the best offensive coordinators in the NFL for a few years as is evident by the Saints’ great offense."

Im positive not everyone shares that opinion.

Lets see him try and replicate the Saints playbook with Fitzpatrick.

What a bone headed move. Leaving New Orleans to go run buffalo's rag tag group of misfits? Being the whipping boy for the pats? I say let him go if he's even considering it.

I don't see Pete leaving Drew and Sean to become a coordinator for the Bills, I might could understand him leaving if he had a head coaching opportunity...

A person changes jobs for more money, promotion from present position, pad his resume.

The Bills position offers none except maybe more money. If they are throwing money at Pete, let him go if he chooses.

They might offer him the chance to actually call the plays instead of just carrying SP's clipboard.
