Re: Time nearing for Saints to draft a quarterback
Who knows how long there'll even be an NFL with the way Goodell is going around destroying this game and league, so I think it's far too early to be thinking about things that are four years down the road.

As someone else pointed out before (I'd like to give them credit but can't remember who), Drews replacement is currently in High School. |

Re: Time nearing for Saints to draft a quarterback
I think the year for the Saints to draft a QB on the top half of the draft is 2014. My theory behind drafting someone fairly high is 2014 will put Brees on year 3 of that monster contract. It is fairly reasonable that the really high cap numbers for years 4 and 5 may be perhaps a bit much for the Saints, so in theory they could have a reasonably good prospect ready to take over in 2015 if they need to move on. Lets just say Brees is still playing at a very high level and the contract is not an issue, then this guy drafted in 2014 will take over in 2017.

That was me Danno. I would like to watch Joe Montana's son who just signed at Tulane. If he has 1/2 of the old man's skills in him he might be worth the pick in a couple of years.

Re: Time nearing for Saints to draft a quarterback
I don't think we need to this year. I don't and never have thought that Chase was the answer. He's a serviceable backup if that. What about that kid from A&M? He will be coming into the NFL about the time Drew will start to decline.

Time nearing for Saints to draft a quarterback?
Yes it is. When you have a great one and Saints do, you need to search, draft, trade, groom a future qb. You m,ight have to trade and draft a few times to find that special one. Finding that next one, next promising one is very difficult. Everyone is looking for him whoever he is. |

Still too early. Drew at 40 and at 75% is still top 10.
