METAIRIE — Still feeling the sting from the franchise’s first losing season since 2007, New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis vowed Wednesday that nothing will be “swept under the rug” as team officials continue to look for answers in the wake of a 7-9 campaign.

With coach Sean Payton scheduled to return from a season-long suspension next month, Loomis said he and the football operations staff were busy evaluating everything that happened in a tumultuous season.

Speaking at length with a small group of reporters for the first time since his own suspension for misleading investigators looking into an alleged bounty scandal ended Nov. 5, Loomis said everyone — including himself — had a hand in the team’s fall from a 13-win season in 2011 to a losing record.

“We’ve got a higher standard than we’ve ever had here before,” Loomis said. “We had expectations coming into the season, and really, despite the adversity we had in the offseason — despite Sean not being here — our expectations were a lot higher.”

The Saints organization can't build a consistently successful model based off of having only one person making everything work. There has to be accountability at all levels of coaching. We all cringed when Sean hurt his knee, and we all witnessed a season where he wasn't even in an upstairs box.

We need specialty coaches that can be successful with out mom being present to make things work.

I think Drew needs to decline going to the PB this year. Even though he had the stats to have been there in the first vote but was overlooked for RGIII just because he was a rookie that had a good year.

I think Drew needs to show his teammates that he's more concerned with the team getting better. He missed all of the offseason last year getting his mega contract and his absence showed on the field this year. With all those dropped passes this year, it might have been some resentment being shown over all his records and his sitting out for his history making contract. I think Drew needs to be spending his time working on playing against 3-4 defenses which are his Kryptonite. Studying the offensive scheme and getting better at it and working on getting rid of plays that he can't make or coming up with new ones. Everyone knows the PB is BS, meaningless and worthless and I think the gesture would go a long way with the fans and his teammates. JMTCW.
