Re: Bushrod - Pro Bowl bound

It's a joke that Bushrod has made two straight pro bowls. Nothing personal against him, but he is not close to being pro bowl caliber. He's the best tackle we have, and that says absolutely nothing. I am not worried about him anymore than I am about the fact that Kromer left. Both guys are overrated, and I mean that sincerely.

Man, I can't believe that an underperforming LT made it to the Pro Bowl again.

Maybe the NFL coaches and players know more about what is or isn't a Pro-Bowler than some of our local talent evaluators. They do make up 2/3s of the vote and there sure as hell isn't a big secret Bushrod fanclub out there stuffing the ballot box.

This may push the Saints hand to have to draft a stud LT in the first round instead of going defense. I do not envy the positions of Payton, Loomis, and Co. for the decisions they are going to have to make.

Thats for damn sure Boutte. Bushrod may not be elite, but he's a damn good LT.

If I had to pinpoint the weak link I'd say RT, then OC.

He's pretty good, no Roaf, but better than average. If he walks whatever we get won't be a huge dropoff, likely stay around or close to the same performance. Should not be a concern right now. We have a defense that gives up yardage like the "Giving Pledge" of billionairs give up money. Gotta deal with that situation first and foremost.

This is the mentality I'm worried about. Bushrod is above average, as you said. Replacing above average LT's isn't easy. Going into 2013 he may be the most under-appreciated player on our roster.

Re: Bushrod - Pro Bowl bound

He's above average, but nothing the Saints should brake the bank on. Playing next to the likes of Nicks and Grubbs have helped him immensely in becoming a name that is tossed in to the Pro Bowl discussion annually, but he will ask for more than he is worth, and if his price-tag will be at the level of Albert and Long - then why not upgrade to a better LT with the same cap hit?!
