Bushrod - Pro Bowl bound

2013 Pro Bowl rosters: AFC, NFC - NFL.com

I guess his asking price just went up a notch.

I hope he doesn't have Brees' agent. We're screwed if he does. Then again he may not hold us hostage for a few extra pennies.

We were going to have a tough time of resigning him regardless...

If he's not around next season I'm fine with it. Not saying we can do much better but we have a bigger problem on the other side.

He's likely gone. There's going to be too much money to pass up on the market. That said, we've won with average tackles before... our offense shouldn't miss a beat. Bushrod was very average when we first started him... our offense does wonders masking while developing our lineman.

Good for Bushrod making the Pro Bowl. I hope he breaks the market. Next man up.

With Kromer going to the Bears, who knows how the O-Line will play and develop next year...

I'm worried. The guy coached one of the best O-lines in the NFL year after year. It damn sure wasn't all Drew Brees.

Jonathan Goodwin left and many said Brees made him look better than he was.

Well judging by what he's done in San Fran I don't think that was the case at all.

I'm worried as hell since we don't have Kromer anymore. Like I have said before, Brees wants Bushrod back so I really hope we can make that happen. It is so utterly important for a QB to feel confident in the LT being able to protect your back.

And I almost fogot. Congrats Bushrod!

Agent of Record is Richard Rosa of Eastern Athletic Services...

After seeing Mr. Team and his Agent known by many names in the Old Testament take the Saints front office to the wood shed as if he was a multi-winner of the League MVP and never threw costly interceptions, I expect him to get his in a max contract...

He'll be looking for his lollipops and rainbows which I could appreciate...

I still do not see it in his play. sorry i believe the only reason he got any pro bowls awarded to him is on the coat tails of Drew's play and his ability to elude a pass rush

he is above average but pro bowl? i do not see it

I guess congrats anyways

According to some people here it was ALL Drew Brees.

Bushrod Evans and Brees. Thats why I'll watch.

Re: Bushrod - Pro Bowl bound

It's a joke that Bushrod has made two straight pro bowls. Nothing personal against him, but he is not close to being pro bowl caliber. He's the best tackle we have, and that says absolutely nothing. I am not worried about him anymore than I am about the fact that Kromer left. Both guys are overrated, and I mean that sincerely.

Man, I can't believe that an underperforming LT made it to the Pro Bowl again.

Maybe the NFL coaches and players know more about what is or isn't a Pro-Bowler than some of our local talent evaluators. They do make up 2/3s of the vote and there sure as hell isn't a big secret Bushrod fanclub out there stuffing the ballot box.

This may push the Saints hand to have to draft a stud LT in the first round instead of going defense. I do not envy the positions of Payton, Loomis, and Co. for the decisions they are going to have to make.

Thats for damn sure Boutte. Bushrod may not be elite, but he's a damn good LT.

If I had to pinpoint the weak link I'd say RT, then OC.

He's pretty good, no Roaf, but better than average. If he walks whatever we get won't be a huge dropoff, likely stay around or close to the same performance. Should not be a concern right now. We have a defense that gives up yardage like the "Giving Pledge" of billionairs give up money. Gotta deal with that situation first and foremost.

This is the mentality I'm worried about. Bushrod is above average, as you said. Replacing above average LT's isn't easy. Going into 2013 he may be the most under-appreciated player on our roster.

Re: Bushrod - Pro Bowl bound

He's above average, but nothing the Saints should brake the bank on. Playing next to the likes of Nicks and Grubbs have helped him immensely in becoming a name that is tossed in to the Pro Bowl discussion annually, but he will ask for more than he is worth, and if his price-tag will be at the level of Albert and Long - then why not upgrade to a better LT with the same cap hit?!

This is exactly my problem with the amount credit Bushrod seems to be getting. As you said, he has played along side some of the best interior linemen in the league. He isn't bad, but much effort is put into masking both of our tackles deficiencies. Bushrod definitely better than Strief, but a pro bowler he is not. If he thinks he's worth that kind of money, I say goodbye. That might sound mean spirited, but it's a pure matter of value vs. other needs. We need OT's pretty badly, but if we're gonna spend 7, 8, 9 million on someone, he has to be better than Jermon.

Can we get someone who clearly better and about the same age as Bushrod for a price that isn't going to break the bank. I don't have any idea.
