Listening to Paytons Press Conference

1 Attachment(s)
Man I miss his voice. Just hearing him talk football is getting me pumped up for this coming season. I have faith he will get this team straightened out! :bng:

Video: Sean Payton: "I Am Happy to Be Back"

“I’m excited to be back.”

On what he needs to do now that he's back:
“Getting back into a routine is important. There’s a lot we have to do.”

On how he dealt with not being on the sideline during the season:
“It’s difficult. You try to draw an analogy to it. I found myself in a routine on game day. Of course I would get the coach’s copy (of the game tape) the middle of the week. I had that available. You’re watching from afar and there were certain things you would see. At times it becomes frustrating. With the situation as unique and unprecedented as it was. I was thankful to the staff.”

On watching the team struggle:
“You feel frustrated. The amount of time you spend together with the players and fellow coaches, you want to see them do well, you want to see them have success. I think the hardest part, was not football. The hardest part was – so many of these people we’re talking about Mickey Loomis, Mr. Benson, a number of the players – you’re used to talking to them on a regular basis… the more difficult part for me was not having the personal interaction, not necessarily football related, but as a friend."

Re: Listening to Paytons Press Conference

I took a few bulletpoints out of it.....

It's eating at him that this Defense is horrible....... and that were not running the ball like we should Bounty scandal or no bounty scandal....

He is gonna say what needs to be said even if he doesn't wholeheartedly believe it.......

The bounty scandal is over, and the work has to actually begin...

Just don't think that 1 man is the key to getting back to winning the division, playoffs, etc....

As per NFL network Payton has said

"Defensive coaching sessions will start immediately" and he also said the problems with the defense "kept him up at night"

This will not be a comfortable offseason for spags, I believe Payton will get this disaster sorted!

FAITH!!

Re: Listening to Paytons Press Conference

The most telling thing I got out of it was when Payton said the defensive players need to be used according to their strengths. I interpreted that as saying that he felt their talents were misused. Spags may know his defense well, but the players didn't match his scheme. It sounds like Payton felt Spags should have altered his scheme to match the individual talents of the players on the roster. That kind of confirmed what the mystery player was *****ing about. Spags was not flexible enough.

Payton is going to get this thing fixed. I have no doubt.

all the NFL media made it look like the days till Payton become a cowgirl were drawing close or how sought after he was going to be and how it would come down to money...what a bunch of **** heads, they look totally foolish now...but of course they don't say 'oh we ****ed up on a monumental scale'

I will never appreciate the talking heads afterthe *2012 season. You can't trust their sources or their judgement.:dunce:

My favorite comment; Sean Payton, "I have no interest in talking to Gregg (Williams)".

It felt good to finally see coach jabbing with the media again. IMO Saints trade up in 1st for a defensive play maker

We upgrade our defense with a fairly decent LB and a not too shabby draft pick in Hicks, adding in a healthy Vilma to boot. We take these guys and mix them in with basically the same players we've had and drop from 23rd in total yards given up to a record breaking 32nd. It's so freakin' record breaking that even being a normal 32nd in the league would be a noticeable improvement and could Spags be gone? Of course not. That all happened because Sean wasn't there.

Sean Payton: No interest in talking to Gregg Williams - NFL.com

"I have no interest in talking to Gregg," Payton said.

That says a lot.

The one thing I did notice is that this whole ordeal has aged him a bit, you can really see it in his face.

Yep, sounds like that bridge has burned to the ground.

****************************************

I have a feeling Sean isn't the only coach in the NFL who feels the same way.
