Revis available?

The Jets will entertain offers...would you trade our 1st for him?

Re: Revis available?

No!

He is good but there is no way we can fit him unde rour cap and still have room to make more upgrades that are needed on D.

lee909 01-24-2013 03:30 AM

No
I don't like players that are happy to hold out every other year got a better deal.

Re: Revis available?

Trade him for Harper or Jenkins?! :-)

Naturally you'd have to negotiate a new contract with him, but I guess he'd be willing to perhaps do that.

But, no way if the current contract would have to be honored!

Re: Revis available?

He gets abused several times a game. He's not great at tackling, poor in run support and has lost a step. Plus he's the whiniest pouting greedy biatch prima donna on the Jets, and that's the most coveted designation on that team.

Re: Revis available?

Plus, even the greatest DB in the world isn't worth squat without a defensive scheme that puts him in position to have a chance to make a play. They've gotta stop the defense's bend over and put your thumb up your ass scheme they seemed to like so much last year. Other than every other teams' whipping boy Patrick, it's pretty hard to tell what kind of talent we have in the defensive backfield already. Between the DL going over for take out pizza in the middle of most plays and the DB "cover none" game plan that was very reminiscent of William's "Go anywhere ,but where the ball is" schemes from last year's playoffs, who knows what kind of talent we really have?

I definitely wouldn't trade our first round to anyone for anybody except maybe Watt right now.

We can't afford him.

I'd like to have him but I just don't see how it is possible.
We simply can't afford him.

Above all else, this is what matters. Besides, I believe if we'd use the guys we have in a system that accommodates them rather than forcing a system that clearly doesn't, we'd be in pretty good shape and could (potentially) get better up front.

Still, good and/or talented players find ways to make plays regardless of what system they are in - so to me, placing the blame on the system for the failures of the individual players is a major cop-out.

I'm not saying Spags' system was/is ideal for the players the Saints have on their defensive roster (at the moment), but it's the NFL; you have to find ways to make plays if you are on the field and getting millions for it.

I don't think it's a cop-out at all. We went from not that good to the worst defense in the history of the NFL. Just too much regression for me to consider it a player issue - primarily a player issue I mean.

Sure, and I do get your point, but I just think that it's about more than just the system and/or scheme. Players need to make plays, and maybe they weren't able to because of all the distracting things that went on around the franchise since last offseason, but nevertheless, I'm not willing to let them off by saying it was the system's fault.

Also, I don't think they were the worst defense in the history of the NFL - they weren't probably even the worst defense this season, because the Titans' defense was just plain awful as well. IMO, the honor of being the worst defense in the history of the league goes to the 1981 Baltimore Colts, because they allowed the most points ever in a 16 game season. To me points allowed is far more condemning than yards allowed, because you can allow as many yards as possible to the other team, but if you won't let them score on you - it's hard to lose the game.

He'd be an okay addition except we could never afford him.

Re: Revis available?

Do not want. He wants to be paid like an elite quarterback. I don't care how good he is, if I'm going to spend that type of money, it's certainly not on a corner.

I don't think you guys can afford him. The last time I checked, you guys were over the cap by 14 mil. Somewhere around that.

You forget; Loomis is a genius...

We were over the cap last year and found ways to sign 3-4 fa's including your Lofton plus sign Drew to a massive contract!

Why don't you go worry about Failcon problems...

Re: Revis available?

Because I'm not worried. If anything, I'm optimistic about the Falcons and what we could do next season.

3 months removed from ACL repair, not worth a first not to mention they'll not move him unless someone recklessly overpays for him. In reality, they probably only threw the bait in the water to see anyone bites.

Took the loss of our head coach to split the series, there's a reason we've won the 11 of the last 15 games against the little brother failcons

With your only good player retiring and Smith still at the helm, we're pretty optimistic too.

No interest. We have a salary cap to deal with and limited assets available to trade.

Re: Revis available?

Give up a 1st! NO! Absolutely not.
He's right at his prime and staring at his last chance at a BIG contract.
He's ACL rehabbing...and who knows how that thing is going to turn out?
We've got limited funds and have lots of holes to plug.
No thanks. Way too many alternatives to taking that route.
