You couldn't really expect him to set the edge or have you been watching a different #41 play and try to shed blockers to make open field tackles on runners than I have?!

At the moment (before any acquisitions) the front 7 3-4 personnel would in all likelihood be:

Bunkley/Hicks as the NT
Jordan and Johnson as the DEs
Lofton and Hawthorne as the ILBs
Wilson and Galette as the OLBs

I think he is too small for the position and this late in his career I doubt he can take on double teams consistently in order to free up the OLB to rush the passer.

True, having two great tacklers who are used to making a lot of tackles during a season as the ILB pairing - Lofton & Hawthorne - will help cover any gap problems there might be with the NT.

Re: Saints to a 3-4???

this is some pretty exciting news. Lets not forget 2 things though guys...
1. Greg Romeus (6'5)
2. Braylon Broughton. (6'6)
I see these 2 being great fits for the 3-4 scheme. romeus did stand up at pitt as well as put his hand in the dirt and Braylon could be another stud.. Big, strong(6'6, 270+) DE that runs a blazin 40 for his size. Lets hope these guys can catch on and get coached up, im sure how Greg's injury progress has gone tho, we'll see.

On another note, with this change and the draft around the corner my sights are set on DION JORDAN, BARKEVIOUS MINGO, and MARGUS HUNT. Jordan is extremely quick and a pass rush specialist as well as Mingo, but the bug difference is jordan is actually quick enough to drop back into coverage and pick up the slot. Now another option that intrigues me a big deal is picking up Margus Hunt in the draft and pairing him up as the DE alongside cam Jordan and pluggin in Akiem Hicks as the NT. can u imagine hunt as a calibur of player as justin smith and jj watt? im very hyped over the "possibilities" the situation can bring..."if" everything pans out. lets hope for the best my fellow WhoDats!!! any thoughts??

It probably speaks volumes on what Payton thinks of Hicks as a NT , I played DT in a 3-4 and you have to be a mean sommummumma ...

Smith is gone because we can find better ways to spend his 10 mil cap hit this year

I think Lofton is a great candidate for ILB in a 3-4. Wilson can also play ILB.

Bye Bye Vilma and Smith.

Exciting times my friends, exciting times.
Think we can get any decent trades for Vilma and Smith?
