Hopefully it's not Lovie Smith.

Lovie Smith is a 4-3 Cover 2 guy, no way it can be him

Most NE fans say they won 3 SB's with Romeo Crennel, and they want him back. he got guys like Bruschi, Harrison, warren, Ty Law etc

NE Defense
2001 #6
2003 #1
2004 #2

Romeo will get the most out of the talent he's a tremendous DC, dude gave the Packers their one loss holding Rodgers to 14 points during his ridiculous year.

Won all 3 with Romeo as our DC. Still a bunch of people on this board that would welcome him back to NE as the DC or at least as some sort of assistant.
Im starting to think we would be lucky to get him. He wasnt even on my radar before

Romeo has done absolutely nothing since leaving the pats.

Actually i think it has more to do with the offenses he's had than the D. Though KC had horrible 2 yrs with him...that was cuz of their offense the defenses have always been tough.

I think his resume would look at lot better as a HC if he had a good QB.

Hey, the chiefs beat the saints this year, therefore any claim aganst him being incompetent is rendered invalid. Anyone with better commentary about his philosophy and tendencies?

I don't know about Romeo, who knows if he even wants to coach next year. You would think Payton would want an younger guy wanting to make a name for himself over a guy at the end of a career

Yeah, but my thinking is Payton has always tried to pattern the Saints after the Patriots, and grabed some of their players. It would also make sense if he looked at their DC, when they won SB's. I can see SP being interested in Crennel, and even talking to BB about it.

I think Payton wants a "Right Now" kind of guy.
The Brees high-octane offensive window won't be open very long.
We need defense like right now. Two-three years for some up and comer
to get his defense straight may be too late. Romeo being a Belichick boy is
right up Payton's alley. He knows exactly what he's getting.
Besides that, Crennel will look pretty good too if we go real deep with him on board.
Two more Superbowls in the next four years wouldn't look bad at all.

Gruden?

Its possible even though I think Gruden would want a HC job.

Gruden might do it with Sean Payton.
He kinda likes that fella.
