Haslett having the third best winning percentage of all of them. Crazy!

Re: THANK GOD COACH PAYTON IS BACK

Did you get to watch the entire presser. NFL network made Payton an icon..... He's walking down the stairs of the stadium but they only caught the stairs...... I swear on my TV it made it look like had walked straiight out of heaven!!!!! Another thing that makes him our best coach to date here, I mean besides the Lombardi is the way he has taken the city as his own. I know life long New Orleanians who don't embrace the city like he has...... He said " OUR " a whole lot, and I feel like he is from New Orleans even though he's not......

oddly enough if not for Katrina, Haslett could of been very well 2nd behind Payton.

The 3-13 season butchered his Percentage.

True!

Hasletts biggest misstake was being loyal to Brooks to a fault. We couldn't identify defensive talent back then either but we picked the fast guys. Don't know if that can be pinned on Haslett or RM.

Re: THANK GOD COACH PAYTON IS BACK

The defenses problem was Rick Venturi and Hasletts loyalty to keep that useless sack of potatoes around.

Ron Zooks ran the defense and it was pretty damn good in 2000.

Bum Phillips is one of the 1st names I heard as a kid.
My dad would also use colorful words when talking about him too...

Re: THANK GOD COACH PAYTON IS BACK

I am showing my age here, but, I remember a news report about a guy printing "Don't Yank Hank" T-shirts when there were rumors about Hank Stram being fired.

Apparently, the owner was the only one who didn't think he had the team moving in the right direction. I also think he had to go his second year without Archie Manning who was out with an injury.
