Shanle is an UFA, so there's no need to cut him... Herring is the guy that needs to be released. His salary is too high for a back-up (at best) LB.

funny thing is every year we all say it. but every year he is here. gotta give him respect for that alone.

Something to consider is that, prior to coming to the Saints, Shanle played ILB in a 3-4 defense. I would NOT be at all surprised if we re-signed him to a vet-minimum contract and kept him as a reserve ILB.

And played well at ILB. Funny thing is he has perfect size for it too!!

Not sure he played much in 3-4. 2005 was the first year Dallas switched to 3-4 and Shanle didn't play much.
