Todd Grantham pulls out of DC consideration...

Todd Grantham withdraws name from consideration for Saints defensive coordinator job | ProFootballTalk

On Friday, the current Georgia defensive coordinator opted to withdraw his name from the process.

Or in other words (perhaps) Grantham was told he wouldn’t get the job.

Well that's that... Rob Ryan it is. God I'm so apprehensive about hiring one of the Ryan brothers. But I will say, we have to trust Sean, Mickey, and Joe Vitt... if they want Rob Ryan then he must be the right man for the job. The day we stop trusting our leaders is the day we turn into the Jets, Dolphins, Jaguars, etc.

I look at it this way. Its a transition year and all we really want is for someone to install a 3-4 defense that finishes around the middle of the pack.

I think everyone we're considering is capable of that.

While I prefer Romeo, I think Rob Ryan can do a decent job. A decent defense is all we need to be that 11-12 win team again and the odds on favorite to win the NFC South and one of 4 or 5 favorites to win it all.

I think Ryan is quite capable, but I think we all prefer exceptional. Ryan is a great stop-gap transition guy.
