Just my opinion, but I think Lofton will do well in the 3-4 scheme as an ILB because he possesses a decent ability to shed blocks and still make plays. He's shown he can break the FB or TE isolation and be the primary tackller. And he's done it many times on stunts where he gets the tackle or guard as well. One of the reasons Vilma regressed in New York when they flipped to a 3-4 was because he now had to face lineman getting to the second level and he couldn't be protected to flow to the ball and make plays. He started to get neutralized. Lofton plays the power game better. Your 3-4 ILB's are your bangers. Lofton reminds me of Vaughan Johnson in that way. He can escape the hands of a center or guard and make a tackle. I think he will adapt to be unprotected and make plays while at the same time making his partner ILB look really good as well.

I think our second ILB needs to be a speed guy. Someone who is better in coverage and can get depth and side to side range.

He's here, I'm routing for him. Prove me wrong. I like eating my words when we improve.

run support will not be an issue but his coverage skill lack and that will be exposed more in a 34 imo

Jay Ratliff, 6-4 & 303 lbs
Terrance Knighton, 6-3, 330 lbs

Oh, and even though Ryan wasn't my favorite for the job, I'm glad they hired someone finally, and he'll have something to prove after how things went down in Dallas.

plus i think getting out that hole with the jags could do him well right now. dude might just need a fresh start with a winning team. he played well under Jack.

Now that your superficial concerns are aired. How do you feel about his coaching? :p

Unless you've coached with Ryan or Payton, i'm not sure you can claim any of this.
