Rob Ryan’s Saints contract limits his contact with the media
 

"New Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has been known to run his mouth from time to time. The Saints reportedly want to limit how much Ryan can run his mouth to the media.

Andy Fenelon, a senior editor at NFL.com, wrote on Twitter that Ryan’s contract with the Saints says Ryan can’t talk to the press unless he gets approval from Saints Vice President of Communications Greg Bensel.

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post saw that report and responded that it would be a violation of the NFL media policy, which requires assistant coaches to be available to the media at certain designated times.

Something doesn’t add up here. The NFL wouldn’t approve a contract that contained terms violating the NFL’s own rules, so if Ryan’s contract violates the NFL’s media policies, then the league office is going to have something to say about it. I have requested a comment from Bensel about whether he really does have to give prior approval before Ryan can talk to the media."

Good gawd, the main stream sports media is just as bad as the main stream news networks.

I was thinking that was great! Too bad. Well hopefully Ryan keeps his mouth shut and just focuses on his job.

To be honest...he has a big mouth. But you know what I commend SP for not conforming to the NFL and getting a guy who's as fiery as GW. That means he's not going to change the identity of this team. **** everyone that wants us to stay quiet, follow the company line and stop being who we are. So you know what although I was apprehensive about it in the beginning its done now, and I'm all in.

This team had no attitude or fire the entire time SP...and yes even the dreaded GW were gone. Now that they have someone as the DC that can bring that same attitude I expect the emotion to help them play better. Cuz lets face it the defense has never been that good even when GW was here. But they had swagger and confidence that they could do anything and guess what they won a ****ing SB. All we need is a good draft, and maybe one possible true playmaker in the FA and I can see this team having a great year.
