New Orleans Saints safety Rafael Bush says he has re-signed with the team.
Bush was one of the team's three exclusive rights free agents. Bush said via Twitter on Monday morning, "Resigning with the saints for another year #whodat."

Bush quickly became one of the Saints' special teams standouts after being acquired off waivers from Denver in early September. Bush picked up 18 total tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.

Here's a list of the rest of the Saints potential free agents:

Unrestricted free agents

OT Jermon Bushrod

WR Devery Henderson

QB Chase Daniel

WR/ST Courtney Roby

OT William Robinson

DT Sedrick Ellis

LB Scott Shanle

DE Turk McBride

I'm glad Bush is back. I think he's got potential. Looking at the rest of that list I believe that we can do without almost everyone of them.

I too am glad that we have him on the team another year... Kid just needs some more on-field time.

It sounds like New Orleans Saints safety Rafael Bush has re-signed with the Saints as Bush was one of the team's three exclusive rights free agents. Bush said via Twitter on Monday morning, "Resigning with the saints for another year #whodat."

He did really well. I hope we keep Bushrod and Robinson...not a Strief fan. Mack and McBride would be nice to keep as well.

Re: Rafael Bush says he has re-signed

We may have locked him up due to Harpers contract. Bush is probably a decent option if we lose Harper.

I really like Harper, but not at 7 million in this scheme, and not when we're 30 million over the cap. We have to downgrade somewhere and this is a 3 million dollar downgrade that doesn't hurt us that much.

I agree. Feels like they might be flirting with the thought of letting Harper go or having him restructure which I thought he should have done last season anyway.

I would add Roby, since he is one hell of a ST player, and maybe subtract Bushrod because of the salary he's undoubtedly looking for. And I'm on the fence with Galette, but if Ryan thinks he will fit his system and price (tender) won't be too much over the minimum - then I'd like to see him get re-signed also, and it's kind of the same deal with Casillas.

Re: Rafael Bush says he has re-signed

ST: Courtney Roby rated as the 15th best special teamer out of over 1,000 people graded. Awesome for him, and totally deserved. The Saints are crazy if they don't re-sign him. Isa Abdul-Quddus graded poorly and was tied for 3rd in missed tackles. Seems like tackling is IAQ's issue at the moment.

A restricted free agent is a player who has received a "qualifying" offer (negotiated in the CBA) from his old club, but is free to negotiate with any club through the free agent signing period. If he accepts an offer sheet from a new club, his old club can match the offer and retain him, or not match the offer and possibly receive draft-choice compensation depending on the amount of its qualifying offer.

If an offer sheet is not executed, the player’s rights revert to his old club after the free agent signing period ends.

Players become restricted free agents when they complete three accrued seasons and their contract expires.

------------------

An unrestricted free agent may sign with any club, with no compensation owed to his old club, through the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp (generally late July). At that point, his rights revert to his old club if it made a "tender" offer (110 percent of last year's salary) to him by June 1. His old club then has until the Tuesday after the 10th week of the season to re-sign him. If he does not sign by then, he must sit out the season.

If no tender is offered by June 1, the player can be signed by any club at any time throughout the season.

An unrestricted free agent must have completed four or more accrued seasons with an expired contract.

IIRC Olsen was a surprise keeper over OC/OG Matt Tennant last year.

Higgins looked good in TC and Brees was quite complimentary of his play. I was surprised when he didn't make the 53.

Higgins did play in the last two games of the season, and he was a starter in the last one if I remember correctly, so the coaching staff does seem to have at least some belief in his talent.

Yep, I was happy when the brought him back. I can't remember but I think he was a good receiver who needed to improve his blocking. I may have that backwards tho.
