yep middle of the road no matter how many high picks you give him to work with

Length of contract for coaches & staff DOES NOT effect the cap when it comes to players...therefore its irrelavent.

And you really need to stop crying about middle of the road defense. We had the worst defense in NFL HISTORY and won a SB with one that was 24th ranked. Pretty sure middle of the road will do just fine.

I'd take a middle of the road defense right now, don't believe the Saints have had one since 2000

If its 1 year and it works out you give him 4 more years, if its 20 years and he doesn't work out you fire him after 1 year.

For Sean Paytons contract the length of time does not matter in the firing regards because he is a proven asset, it does define how long 31 other teams can not talk to him.

once i know the length of the contract i am checking to see if there is a coach say in SF that has a contract expiring that same year. that would let us know if he is a band aid for now.

Fair enough. I'm neither a fan of band aids or destabilizing a defense every few years.

Pretty interesting stuff. It does give me something else to think about. Thanks for posting.

neither am I but i find it hard to believe we waited so long to hire him if he was really our #1 pick as DC. I think the SP had a SF coach in mind. But they are under contract.

if this 34 rebirth is going to happen at least it would be another 34 coach coming in.

IF IF IF hand grenades and horse shoe

Exactly my point. We didn't get who we really wanted for some reason and I'm not entirely amorous with that fact.

Not sure that was a "we". More like a they or he.
