The Saints have released 16 players: DT Kenderick Allen, G Ben Archibald, WR Nathan Black, CB Fred Booker, CB Ahmad Brooks, TE Dan Curley, C Jerry Fontenot, S Brett Hafford, K Rob Hart, WR Derrick Lewis, FB Nate Schurman, G Chad Setterstrom, LB Darrin Smith, RB Lamar Smith, LB Billy Strother and C Terry Wagner.

LB Sedrick Hodge will be placed on Reserve/Suspended by the NFL as he serves a four-game suspension for violating the Leagues Substance Abuse Policy. DE Willie Whitehead has been placed on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform. Whitehead must remain on Reserve/PUP for six weeks and is ineligible to practice or play until October 19, the day following the sixth regular-season weekend. Within that 21-day period, Whitehead can either be placed again on Reserve/PUP (for the rest of the season) or put on an active/inactive list.

Kinda of surprised to see Lewis and Black both gone, but not surprised to see the BEAST Bockwoldt made it.

OK 08, I feel pretty comfortable openly speculating on our new head coach.

If he doesn\'t win over the Florida fans this year, I bet that Benson goes after Zook.

Zook 4-1
Venturi 5-1
Ray Rhodes 7-1
Jim Schwartz (Titans D Coordinator) 8-1
Saban 10-1
Fassel 10-1
Crennel 15-1
Weis 20-1
Mike Zimmer 20-1
Kubiak 25-1
Glanville 100-1
Dtika 1000-1
Sam Mills 100000-1

Is Zook really an improvement? I dont think so. If he can win in college he has no chance in the pros. The guy he took over for was one of the greatest coaches in SEC history and you know what happened to him in the pros.

OK 08, I feel pretty comfortable openly speculating on our new head coach.

My speculation goes a little further ......

My speculation is that Benson rides Hasbeen until his contract expires and all issues have been settled with the state of Louisianna at which point Benson steps aside and allows LeBlanc to decide on a new GM and Head Coach .

Rita LeBlanc
Finance & Business Executive

Rita LeBlanc begins her third full-time season with the Saints in a new role as Finance & Business Executive. In addition to acting as an advisor to the Saints Board of Directors, LeBlanc will continue representing the Club at NFL Ownership meetings as well as in the greater New Orleans community. LeBlanc also acts as a liaison for varying special events, league-level relations and business development projects. In this role she has spearheaded efforts toward stadium research, Club fiscal efficiencies and international soccer exhibition youth programs. LeBlanc also planned the Ownership social gala during Super Bowl XXXVI, attended by VIPs including former President George H. W. Bush, among other programs and activities.

LeBlanc has pursued a career in sports entertainment since 1998 with NFL internship programs at the Saints, the NFL headquarters in New York, the NFL Properties Publishing group in Los Angeles and NFL Films in Mount Laurel, N.J. She returned to the Saints full-time in 2001 and since has worked in Football Operations, assisted the offensive coaching staff with game preparation, coordinated marketing efforts and business office projects. She has also contributed during stints with the team in the public relations, video and ticket office departments.

With the addition of the New Orleans VooDoo to the Saints\' sports portfolio, LeBlanc has taken a key position as the Director of Marketing and Special Events. She has energized the brand building of the new franchise both locally and nationally through ongoing partnerships and promotions. LeBlanc will take a lead role in creating the high intensity AFL gameday experience.
