2014 cap hit $18.4ml
2015 $26.4ml
2016 $27.4ml
Though the last two years could be cut.
The question is do you keep him through the contract and hope to lower the cap numbers, cut him loose or trade him away if the right QB becomes available and restart the offense.

My point about the team ageing rapidly is they are all the same age and need long term replacements in the next couple of years. Its the sane question,do you keep them till there best days are gone or let them go for players/picks that can offer more in the long term

It will be what it will be.... If Drew is ok with a substandard line so he gets paid then he will not be getting paid for long. If he can say healthy with a substandard pass blocking line at a cheap price then so be it.

Some people are ok with $8000 in rim riding on $50 tires.

For as long as we have Payton and Loomis.

Two years? I think he's got at least 5. Why do you think he's only got 2 years left?

Honestly, even with a seriously compromised o-line, Drew has been the least injured player on the team.

(knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood)

I'd say we know for a fact 3 years of strong play from Drew, but 4 years sounds more like it with a reputation like his. He had 1 injury to his arm that was noteworthy, and he technically only got better after that injury.

What does the future hold for NFL players? Skill positions like QB were shorter lived in the recent past before the "no-hit" rules. I think they'll last longer in the post Goodellgate era. We seriously could see an end to "the sack" one day soon (let's hope not).

Skills players starting after 40 may become a reality in this generation.

So true, and with Drew's work ethic, and his skillset being a typical quick release drop back passer, I think only a freak injury would prevent him from playing until he's 40.

It now takes about 1 training camp to prepare a franchise QB for the NFL.

Why in the world we even think about drafting someone right now?

They'd be on another team 2 or 3 years before Drew even thinks about retiring.

where are you getting these numbers from? colston is 29, sproles is 29, bushrod is 28, moore is 29...granted most will be a year older during next season, but i don't get why you're adding an extra year to just about everyone you mentioned or why you're more concerned with their age over performance.

Given soon we'll become the FFL(Flag Football League), this may be a given.

Athletes these days are also much more well conditioned. And with the heavy rotations, the wear and tear on their bodies are lessening to pair along with the rule changes.

I think Drew has an elite 2 years, really good 3rd, and a solid 4/5th years left in him... barring injury of course.
