While I find the statement of him dropping the keys suspect and unprofessional. His quoted "I'll be out of work for like 5 minutes" leads me to believe the action as at least fathomable.

Booger may be an aging hipster, but he's not a douchebag.

This story doesn't pass the smell test because he was not employed when he was offered the job by the Saints. There was at least a one week lag between his "tenure" with the rams and his hiring by the Saints.
