Holder: Saints to tender Ivory

Quote:

Larry Holder ‏@LarryHolder
#Saints RB Chris Ivory is expecting to receive RFA tender and not a long-term deal, according to a source. Still unsure on which tender.
I'd imagine its a ROFR level. I can't see anyone giving up a 2nd for him and 2 million/year is steep considering our cap situation.

Danno 03-04-2013 11:31 AM

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory

FYI, here are the new tender levels

Level 1: 1,323,000 $ (ROFR, Right Of First Refusal))
Level 2: 1,323,000 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (Original Round Pick)
Level 3: 2,023,088 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (Second Round Pick)
Level 4: 2,878,628 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (First Round Pick)

It's got to be the cheapest hasn't it.
I don't think he will be too happy only playing games here and there again.

When Ivory runs he brings the pane.

When healthy, love what this guy brings to the table coming off the bench....

But not that much.

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory

Another FYI,

Apparently, once we tender him, we can trade him for a lesser pick. The tender offer stays with the player. The player would then likely renegotiate a contract with the new team we dealt him to.

If someone wants to give us a 4th for him, we can take it or deny it. We simply have the right to demand a 2nd, preventing him from leaving.

I think. :dunce:

Thanks, Danno

May I ask where you ascertained the info?

ROFR would get us leverage for a draft pick..

I pirated that info off of another post on another site.

Someone else posted different numbers in that thread, but they were both very close.

I'm sure a google search could find the link

or worse; a knee or foot injury.

Sad really, for the guy has played so few games total, in his college and NFL career

Ivory is a tender guy.... so i am not surprised that we tendered him, just kidding.

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory

I think every team owns their own 4th rounder this year, so there won't be a team out there with an "extra" 4th rounder.

Maybe the Packers would give up their 25th of the 4th round?

Or maybe St. Louis would give up their 16th of the 4th round, they have an extra 1st rounder from WAS as per the trade up last season?

Frankly, I'd probably take less than a 4th for his rights.

Whatever the case, I imagine Ivory won't be in the black & gold next season, but who knows..?

There should be a good deal of compensatory picks awarded.

While teams can't trade the comp pick, they can trade their own 4th rounder and keep the comp.

When are the comps announced? Is it just prior to the draft or after the annual league meeting (17th-20th)?

Ivory is like a Harbor Freight tool. It's cheap, It works, but it breaks. Go get another one.

Best thing that can happen is that you:

Tell Ivory that you are going to play him...

Then play him.

I've see it. It works. But a seven-game sit for no reason is a MIND-FU**. Who else on this team has had that shat happen?

PLAY DA MAN.

Would you want to tell him that? I didn't think so, commando. You should be at war.

You non-military f***s kill me...
He's fragile, he gets injured. THEY ALL get injured. Including the holy one - Drew Brees.

I look at it from the stand point that he is in my SQUAD and man, he's a tactically-excellent killer. He gets shot every once in a while, and miraculously he only gets grazed, but he always comes back and INSPIRES EVERYONE AND REALLY TAKES US TO VICTORY.

Then I come here and hear a bunch of crying babies who have never been to war and I have to put it all in perspective.

YOU are a bunch of crying babies who will never go to war. Period.

NOW you pick on a man who gives all he has each and every time for the team and you just don't understand that.

Immature punks. And those of you who know me know me.

I have been to war but this is not war. It's entertainment, a business.
Ivory plays with an uncommon passion and I don't think you will find one person who would argue that fact or anyone that does not want him to do well, earn more, or stay healthy (except opposing teams on gameday).

Right now though, he's not a good fit for the Saints. We already have 3 RB's that are not going anywhere. He has become a luxury the Saints simply can't afford anymore.

I'm a military F**k as you put it.

NO I'm putting someone who's weapon double feeds 40% of the time on the battle field.

I'm not putting my safety in the hands of a sniper who can hit his target but every other round falls on the ground 50 meters in front of his rifle.

And I am not willing to carry 20 lbs of extra brass in my ruck.

Those spaces are reserved for items that are reliable and needed.

We have enough RBs we don't need to carry a 4th that is questionable when needed.

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory

He really did this to himself last October, complaining about the coaches not talking to him. Very un-Saint-like behavior. No one in this locker room does that type of thing and stays here for long.I kinda turned on him then and I knew he was as good as gone . Payton was not going to open his morning newspaper and see that story and let it slide when he came back. It's indefensible.
