Keenan Lewis is going home, and he turned down a bigger offer from another undisclosed team, source says. Love homecoming stories!

Backloaded would be my guess

Interesting. There's obviously some money here to work with if not we wouldn't have brought him in for a look see.

Is Louis a 2nd tier free agent?

Source? I see where Lewis may be a player the Saints are interested in, but can't find a source that says he's "visiting" the Saints right now....

They need all tge help they can get on D especially a bump and run cb and a cover safety like Glover Quinn, or a Ed Reed or Charles Woodson at the right price! Lewis and Cox would be a good start if Cox's medicals checkout

nice he seems to be clicking now. last year was the first year he did not seem lost on the field
interesting risky move if we do it.

So is this the big defensive signing?

So we start off with a couple CB visits.

Obviously we're targeting CB

Re: CB Keenan Lewis is visiting....

he would a second tier FA that could pay off big time.

He is a solid press corner in the NFL now. but ZERO INT'S

coming out of college he was labeled with "troubles with his tackling" but that seem to behind him last year. 71 tackles last year.

Like i said it would be an interesting gamble that could pay off big time

definitely makes me go hmmmmmmmmm

Steelers free-agent CB Keenan Lewis says he will visit with New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are targeting cornerbacks in free agency as Steelers free-agent cornerback Keenan Lewis said via Twitter he will be taking a free-agent visit with the Saints.

"Taking a drive down Airline Dr. To visit with the New Orleans Saints!!!" Lewis said, who is an New Orleans native.

Jaguars free-agent cornerback Derek Cox is scheduled for a visit with the Sanits on Thursday, a source said.

Add in Cox and we are looking for CB to play solid press coverage and solid tackling skills

Zone corner.. Would be interesting to see if he can transition.. as long as his first name isn't Jason and last name isn't David

Free agent CB Keenan Lewis will visit the Saints.

Along with much of the cornerback market, Lewis has yet to be the subject of serious buzz as Aqib Talib, Brent Grimes, and Sean Smith all remain unsigned. Lewis was a zone corner in Pittsburgh, though we suspect he'd play plenty of man in Rob Ryan's mixed-coverage defense. Lewis turns 27 years old this May.

Re: CB Keenan Lewis is visiting....

he played a lot of press coverage in college.

Negatives: Questionable deep speed. ... Lacks the soft hands for the interception. ... Misjudges passes and allows too many to get into his chest. ... Generally a reliable open-field tackler, but likes to duck his head and swipe, leading to some missed tackles. ... Can get a bit grabby downfield, which will lead to pass interference calls at the next level. ... Willing in run support, but was protected by a physical and experienced front seven, and prefers to stand around the pile, rather than throw his body into it.

We are looking at bigger corners aswell

Keenan lewis 6"0 200lbs and derek cox 6"1 and around the same weight I believe

I dont know how long greer has left but if we sign both these corners (which i hope!) Move pat robinson or greer to nickle back

Slow your roll!!! Keenan Lewis is OK! he only got to play because Ike got hurt and didnt start playing well until late in the season...I dont know to much about Cox only that he's been injury prone..Lets leave Rob Ryan to decide who gets moved where....I mean sheesh! we havent even signed or seen them in action yet

I'd prefer Cox mainly because I think he could be had for less - his medicals need to check out first of course.

he is a player worth rolling the dice on. he has been improving every year (4yrs) and when forced into the starters roll he stepped up and played well. I say if the money is right take the risk. It is a safer risk than any draft pick

let the docs look at him and see if this is chronic but he is just like Lewis but has better hands

Cox just signed with the Chargers. So now I guess its down to Asomugha or Lewis if we do sign someone.

Where are you hearing this from? I just checked both ESPN and NFL.com and there is no word on Cox signing with San Diego...

Looks like the run on the CB market has commenced. A lot of the supposed top guys got snagged up just over the last few hours here. As much as I'd like to see us sign one of these guys, I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Maybe we sign Lewis.. I think anyone else might be too far out of our price range, even Nnamdi.

I hope he likes his hometown. We could use him. I see him as a younger Greer.

NuNu318 03-14-2013 09:39 AM

Re: CB Keenan Lewis is visiting....

If both him and Nnamdi are both going to come cheap then try and see if you can get both (especially if you plan on getting a LT in the draft instead of FA). If you can get Nnamdi to take a 1yr deal and Lewis take a longer deal that is cap friendly for this year....both can be had. Remember Nnamdi is still going to get paid 4mil from the Eagles this year.

Think about it:
RCB- Nnamdi
LCB- Lewis
Slot CB- Greer or Robinson

Most likely we'll get one or the other but that would be crazy good if we could get both.

Oh and I didn't know Nnamdi was born in Layfayette....he was raised in L.A. though so the homestate aspect really wont count as it would for Lewis.

Honestly, I think that mostly likely they both end up signing elsewhere, but the optimist in me still holds on to the hope of signing at least one of them.

Yep like Lee909 said in another related post, it is highly unlikely that Nnamdi leaves the Bay area or Pacific Northwest (Seattle) without a new deal.

never a good sign when they leave

Smith gone to the Cheifs for 5ml and Coxs signed for similar average.Cant see Lewis signing for much less.

Next CB deal likely done is in New Orleans. Saints are close to deal with Steelers free-agent CB Keenan Lewis that could be done today.

Re: CB Keenan Lewis is visiting....

Sean Smith got 15 for 3. With the cap restrictions, seems like a lot of these name guys are being had for a much smaller amount as they would in other years.

I'm guessing if we sign Lewis, it might been cheaper than that. At the same time, I thought Smith was pretty overrated.

Report: Saints are "close to" a deal with Keenan Lewis

Keenan Lewis - Pittsburgh Steelers - 2013 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Saints and free agent CB Keenan Lewis are "close" to a deal that could be finished on Thursday.

Lewis made the trip down to New Orleans for a visit on Wednesday. The soon-to-be 27-year-old played a lot of zone in Pittsburgh, but Saints DC Rob Ryan likes to play man. Lewis has good size at 6-foot and 208 pounds, so he can handle it. He and Jabari Greer would make a nice outside corner duo. Mar 14 - 2:17 PM

Yes. Robinson was by far the worst player on that defense last year.
