I'm saying though, 100 meters is 109 yards. That's the whole football field. Running 40 yards actually happens on every play. A football field is about 53 feet long. If you're a safety you're running from sideline to sideline. It matters. But like I said, I'm just going to give it up.

How about that Keenan Lewis???

dash - T-shirt, shorts, straight line, track start.

NFL- Full gear, avoiding contact and often getting physically disrupted, often turning a 180 from a back-pedal, half-fatigued from exertion, running with your head on a swivel, anticipation/instinc advantages...

The 40 is merely one of numerous evaluation tools and isn't a true indicator of NFL speed.

And in the NFL the race always starts after contact, which is actually a jogging start, not a track start. Someone skilled at a track start probably has at least a 10th of a second advantage over someone not skilled at a track start.

Couldn't that be a double edged sword? The got who ran a 4.5 could be even slower then the linebacker who ran the 4.7.

Example: Roman Harper vs Curtis Lofton

Slower how? If your referring to running thru traffic, change of direction, running in an arc or zig-zag instead of a straight line, then yes. Jenkins ran a pedestrian 40, but recorded one of the fasted 3-cones in combine history.

It is absolutely possible that someone who ran a 4.5 40 could be slower in NFL action than a guy who ran a 4.8.

Bad example though, I think Harper would run circles around Lofton, but your point is absolutely 100% correct.

Ray Lewis ran a pretty slow 4.81 40 at the combine. I don't know anyone on the planet that thinks he was a slow LB.

True, I wouldn't really consider him fast either though. He just had a relentless motor and sheer will. I'm about to come on out of retirement and go play corner for the Saints.

Roman Harper is slow. Prolly the knee surgeries and age caught up to him. My mind still replay roman harper ran down by sam bradford.

I'm talking about Keenan Lewis. And me possibly taking Patrick Robinson's spot.

You forget some of the fastest guys at the combine aren't big time prospects nor do they ever amount to anything. A lot of these small school athletes are exactly what they are... great athletes that run really really fast. But you can keep on dancing.

So do some of the slowest guys, who also got averaged into your little chart. Lol. You're a funny guy though. I'm tired of going back and forth. What you think about Keenan Lewis? I still think we need Nnamdi paired with him.
