Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma - 2010 NFL Combine Results

Wow, that went right over your head at light speed didn't it.

You didn't prove anything. You know how many people go and do combine drills and never get drafted? I showed your real elite players. You show me an average of over five years of every player at the combine at respective positions. Not to much it just says safety. Not strong. Not free. Just safety. But like I said, I'm done. I'm talking about Keenan Lewis. And me possibly taking Patrick Robinson's spot.
I thought it did. That he's fast enough to play corner, and he's plenty fast for a FS. Now if you were to go and say Jenkins doesn't have elite speed, I'd have to agree with you. But for the last time, he's certainly not "slow".

Al Davis used to get enamored with combine 40 players too. Let's just fin guys who can play football.

We don't have a lack of speed at every level, we have a lack of talent. Slow players can still be great players and fast does not necessarily mean good.

But to not avoid the repeated segue, Keenan Lewis is a nice addition. We needed the depth and competition at the CB position because Robinson doesn't deserve to be default starter and Greer has struggled to stay healthy the last couple years. With Johnny Patrick being outed we are thin here. Lewis has progressed every year into a started. Good gamble grabbing the home town kid.

In rugby we play in divisions broken down by age.
Old Boys-35 and over
Masters-45 and over
We have divisions for over 50 and over 60, 70 and 80.
Our saying is "we may be old but we're slow!
I still believe that we are faster than the Saints defense. They look like they are running in mud!
I think Jenkins hustles non stop, but he ain't that bright in my opinion. Bad angles and bad tackling define Jenkins.

I think we have adequate speed on defense. Last year with all of the cofusion we saw a lot of confused hesitation. Don't confuse that hesitation with overall speed.

Greer, Robinson, and White are pretty fast CB's
Jenkins and Harper are fast (or at worst average) for safeties
Lofton has mediocre speed for a MLB
Vilma is still fast
Hawthorne is fast
Casillas (now with the bucs) was the fastest LB in his draft class
Galette and Wilson are above average fast

We now have Lewis, who is very fast as well as having good size.

Smarts is at least as important as speed and smarts comes from the top. It sure seems like there's a lot of judgement coming from the past couple of years where the motto was "If you ain't outta position, you ain't playin'!" How the hell can you have good angles and a good chance of tackling if your DC has you doing thumb up your ass drills for the entire game? I'm ready to give Rob a chance to see what he can do with our boys.

So to answer the question, I'm complaining about our last couple of DCs and as long as I'm at it, throw in McMahon too!

Sometimes there is a difference between speed and football speed.

A lineman could run a 4.3 40yd but if he is slow off the blocks he will get beat every time, some linemen run slow 40s but are quick as lightening ... Football speed.

I guess the answer to your question Papz is that some people worry more about what the neighbors have.

Harper is not slow. Too many football noobs point to that Bradford run down, but its obvious that Harper ran out of gas on that play. Don't confuse speed with stamina. Harper was gassed.

Vincent Jackson ran out of gas too. On any day of the week Vincent Jackson beats Malcolm Jenkins by 10 yards on a 100 yard sprint.

Harper has decent speed, especially for a STRONG Safety. Jenkins has average CB speed, and above average FS speed.

If you remember that game Harper was on the field non-stop coming into that play. He was blitzing all the way down the field on that drive leading up to the turnover. He was gassed before the play started, but once he got the ball he gave it all he had left. It doesn't matter how good an athlete you are or how fast you normally run, once the lactic acid builds up from constant exertion the muscles begin to shut down. My son was a Division I distance swimmer so I know more than a little about this subject.
