How Jake Long to the Rams could help the Saints?

» How Jake Long And The Rams Could Benefit The Saints Who Dat Warriors

This story has some bite to it. It is needs based..... I like the idea already, not even Ivory fans could argue against him going to STL, with the chance to challenge the starter.....

Stud: After a rookie year where he got too much praise, and a sophomore season where he earned his criticism, I for one wasn’t expecting much from Rodger Saffold (+8.6). Color me wrong, as he excelled in pass protection, looking like the player he was drafted to be.

Saffold has very little leverage himself to force the FO's hand, and they probably would like to keep him even with Long's signing and place him at the other end of the line.

Jim Thomas‏ @jthom1
After spending parts of 3 days in St. Louis league sources say Jake Long scheduled to leave town his afternoon. At this point still no deal.

Saffold sounds interesting.....but I still want to draft a LT and sign him to a rookie long term contract that is cost effective.

I said it before if we don't trade up Johnson won't be there and neither will Fisher.

What's more interesting than getting a starting RT and a fourth or fifth round selection for pennies on the dollar..... Mickey Loomis would be haled as the genius of all geniuses...... You get a whole year to look him over and then you could extend him or pay him, when you get Jimmy straight....

Won't happen unless Rams sweeten their current offer though...

Yea its a win win for us but the Rams have to be with it too...trade your starting tackle for a RB whos longevity is questionable its more of a risk on their end...It sounds good though

1.We are drafting a LT in one of the first 4-5 picks probably 3rd rd Hopefully Terron Armstead or maybe Menelik Watson is there for the snatching!

Hogwash, no trade unless they willing to give up a 2nd rounder

there won't be a good enough tackle at 15, and we should go after a pass rusher anyway....SIGN SEBASTIAN VOLLMER

No one is gonna be dum enough to give you a second round pick for someone you got undrafted. They placed the tender on him so they wouldn't lose him for nothing. The best your gonna get is a 4-5 rounder.

Vollmer is gonna eat the rest of your cap up, and now that the Market has been set your gonna see Vollmer and Smith come to terms with teams....

We can't afford to trade up...... None of the top three tackle will leave the top 10 IMO

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins were offering LT Jake Long about $8 million per season before he accepted the Rams' four-year, $36 million offer.

It's unclear how many years Miami was willing to go, but it's unlikely that was the hang-up. It means Long opted to bolt the team that made him the No. 1 overall pick of the 2008 draft for roughly $1 million more per year. For his part, Long says the decision came down to the Rams' "vision and the entire organization." We're guessing the extra $1 million didn't hurt.
