New Orleans Saints reportedly have shown interest in former Bears TE Kellen Davis

The New Orleans Saints apparently have shown interest veteran tight end Kellen Davis, who was released by the Chicago Bears on Wednesday.

According to a post by NFL.com reporter Albert Breer, the Saints visited with Davis earlier this week. But Davis, 27, left New Orleans without a contract.

Breer reported that Davis also has visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has drawn interest from the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns.

The Saints are in the market for a backup tight end to play behind Jimmy Graham after they released veteran David Thomas earlier this offseason. Along with Graham, the Saints also have Michael Higgins, who spent much of last season on the practice squad, on the roster.

The 6-foot-7, 267-pound Davis spent all five of his seasons in Chicago after the Bears drafted him in the fifth round in 2008. In five seasons, Davis has played in all 80 of the Bears' games, starting 35, while catching 47 passes for 529 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last season, he had 19 receptions for 229 yards and two touchdowns but struggled with dropped passes.
