Greetings from a Hawks fan

Hello from the lovely Northwest.

Us Seahawk fans wanted to wish your team good luck this week as my boy Hasselbeck and Co. rip apart your pathetic secondary. I was thinking the other day of reasons our team will beat you. I came up with three quick ones:

1. Ashley Ambrose
2. Fred Thomas
3. Jay Bellamy

That’s two ex-Seahawks that couldn’t even make our team when we sucked. Nice picks, fellas! Then, to my amazement, I went down your Linebacking corps. I know we have Orlando Huff at MLB for us, but apparently you have his crappy evil twin Orlando Ruff attempting to shut down Shaun Alexander. I remember when his BUTT was ran out of town in San Diego a few years ago. Man, that’s sad. I liked James Allen when he came out of school, but I’ve come to the conclusion that if he hasn’t been able to start for your team the past two years, he wont anywhere. Derrick Rodgers is decent, but I doubt he’ll be a difference-maker for you guys.

I’m not at all worried about Jonathan Sullivan considering he was disappointing last year. I bet you guys would rather have taken Trufant at that 6th pick, huh?

I have to confess that I like your boy Brooks and Deuce is by far one of the best RB’s in the league. My only worry is that our defense can’t stop Deuce, because we all know what our DB’s will do to your WR’s and Brooks. I hope Donte Stallworth is wearing one of those helmets that have the extra layer of protection on the outside because Hamlin’s gonna light his BUTT up again. That’s assuming Stallworth doesn’t pull another hammy and ruin his “potential.

From our offense, expect Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson, also known as the best left side in the league, to blow Grant, Howard and Smith off the ball all day. TE Jerramy Stevens is due for 5 catches 60 yards and 1 TD and Jackson, Robinson and Engram will perform their weekly magic.

My prediction for the game:

‘Hawks- 30
Saints- 17

MODS NOTE: we dont mind you being here, we just dont need all the language... oh and did ya boy walter jones ever show up to camp yet? i sure havent heard anything... but maybe cuz no one really cares if he shows up or not....steve hutchinson the best LG in the league? please dude, ur dreaming. another thing, jeremy stevens is due for drug rehab and i also remember donte having oh 100+ rec. yards last year as well as a TD. oh and orlando ruff isnt our starting MLB so u can give up on that one...

Welcome from the Big Easy!

I will be the first to bite as most of our regulars have been run off by a couple of pre-schoolers that recently joined our forums and have yet to be dealt with by the moderators. I would also like to wish your team good luck...but only to a point.

As a fantasy football player, I have become a fan of your offense. Hasslebeck is going to be around for a long time putting up great numbers, Alexander is a nice double-threat tailback(albeit we both know which of our runningbacks you would rather have) and your recievers are young and talented, though Robinson has yet to live up to the hype (much like our Donte). Hasslebeck will save your butts with his ability to deal with the pressure, but we are bringing it for 60 minutes, and your boy Walter Jones has his hands full with Howard and wunderkind Will Smith, especially since he missed the entire training camp. Grant will be coming against Terry on the other side. They will need Alexander\'s help all day, taking him out of the passing game. Hasslebeck is going to very sore on Monday morning.

Your secondary is one of the tops in the league in my book, but with the no chuck rule, expect your heart to get broken more than a few times trying to cover our speed when that yellow hanky of doom comes flying onto the field. Gone are the days of the shut-down corner...as fast as they mythically arrived. This is the year of the reciever. I certainly wish we took Trufant instead of Sully, but even he cant stop Horn the whole game, and that leaves Lucas or Taylor on Stallworth?? Also, before you bash Fred Thomas, remember that the Eagles let Taylor and his 4y/11.3m contract go offered Thomas 4y/14m to replace him before we matched the offer. As good as your secondary is, you must know we are still going to get our catches...and our penalties, but the big concern should be your linebackers and DL.

Sometimes it takes an outsider\'s observations to wipe the haze off your eyes caused by hometown hype, and I will give you mine. Winstrom was a nice pick-up, but after Okeafor runs out of gas at halftime, and the game is not a blowout like last year, any resemblance to a pash rush will disappear. After that, I dont care if you velcro your CBs to our recievers....give Brooks enough time and he will pick you apart long enough to take the lead for good on a Boo Williams score and open the already pourous middle for Deuce to control the clock.

Man...just saying his name must make you tremble inside. Up the gut all day long, and without Brown at your disposal, your evil twin \"Huff\" version of Orlando will be picking the grass out of his facemask all day. I predict 150+yds and 2 scores, one for 30+ off right tackle in the first half. By the way, our version of Orlando is now backup to rookie Courtney Watson this year. I would stop and introduce you but you will be hearing his name a lot on Sunday as he will lead the team in tackles. I also fully expect your version of Orlando to give way to \"Koots\" by midseason.

Our secondary will give up the middle of the field most of the day, but will make a key turnover somewhere in the third in the red zone to turn the game, and the home crowd (of which i will be the loudest next to whistle-head) won\'t let you get back in it. I need only to point to your 8-0 home record vs. 2-7 on the road last year (including playoffs) to know what the difference will be.

Final Score - Saints 31, Seahags 27.

Seattle will regroup after the tough loss in New Orleans and go on to easily win the west with another 10 win season, with only St. Louis making it to .500 at 8-8. You will win your first playoff game since 1984 hosting the wild-card Packers, and will have your chance at revenge the following week here in New Orleans.... on the road again. But hey...there is always next year ;)

Of course this is just my opinion...

Should be a great game and thanks for stopping by :D

Did this guy see his team play on the road last year? With any luck Hassellback will make some statement that the team can\'t lose which will guarantee a win for the Saints.

Sars-

Good post. However, I disagree with Walter Jones having his hands full with Howard, Grant or Smith (who I loved coming out of OSU). Somehow Jones always seems to skip camp and be back to his Pro Bowl-self by week one. I like your DE\'s, but I simply think Jones can handle them.

As for Alexander lending a hand in the passing game (blocking), maybe you haven\'t seen Alexander\'s blocking, but it\'s suspect at best. We rarely ask him to pass-block because he\'s terrible. That job will go to Mack Strong, probably the best FB no one pays attention to, thus leaving Alexander or Maurice Morris to punk your LB\'s.

You\'re exactly right when you said we\'d rather have Deuce than Alexander. I don\'t know if you southerners know it, but Alexander isn\'t as well-liked as some people might think. Deuce is everything Alexander isn\'t- fast, a tough runner and great out of the backfield in the passing game.

However, if you think he\'s gonna just run up the gut all day long, think again. Our defensive line\'s a whole lot better this year and it wont happen very easily. He\'s a great runner and I\'m sure he\'ll get his 100 yards, but it wont be on 9 carries. Go take a look at last year\'s playoff game vs. Ahman Green and check out what we did to him.

Tell Courtney Watson we\'re looking forward to seeing him. All Pro G Steve Hutchinson will enjoy putting him on his back all day. Another Notre Dame bust!

As for your predictions about turnovers, yards and scores, I can\'t really comment on that. I guess we\'ll have to wait until game time.

Thanks for the banter. I\'ll see you cats later.

You don\'t come in here and talk like that.

By the way - Brooks throws for 312 yards and two TDs, both 50+ yards to DONTE STALLWORTH - one of which ends the season for Trufant when he tears a hamstring trying to catch Donte.

Don\'t you just love it when some fans of another team come to our board and can\'t even get there facts straight:

Saint\'s 27
Seahawk\'s 19 that would be 4 field goals and 1 touchdown.

Saint\'s will do very good in the red zone, if nowhere else on the field and remember the game is in our HOUSE this year.

Fellas-

Don\'t get too upset about someone \"coming to your board\". It\'s just good banter and fun for everyone. I\'m glad you\'re passionate about your team. Believe it or not, I\'ve always loved the Saints (of course behind Seattle). I remember the days of Mills, Johnson, Swilling and Jackson- one of the best LB units of all time.

However, I\'m sticking to my guns on this one. I simply don\'t think your defense has enough to stop us this year.

WhoDat -

I hope Brooks does put up huge numbers. He\'s my fantasy QB this week, along with Hass. Here\'s hoping he throws for 300 and still loses by 20!

See ya, fellas.

You may see Hamlin with one. Donte jumped up, grabbed his helmet and ran back to the huddle as Hamlin was slow to get up, and groggy and stumbled back to his huddle.
But it was a beautiful hit, he just didn\'t pack much pain with it.
But off the smack...

Seattle is a superbowl darling on so many sites its unbelievable.
They are primed for an awesome season. 10-6 would be a huge disappointment in that division.

The Saints have underachieved for 2 years and have what most experts call gaping holes and glaring weaknesses on their defense.

Imagine how embarrasing it would be if the mighty Seahawks actually lost to this bunch of underachieving wimpy slackers.

Man that would be humiliating wouldn\'t it?

That would be like losing to Cincinatti or Washington...

Oh wait, you already did that last year, to both, sorry...I forgot...

What? This is going to be a damn good game. And it\'s not like our distant \"friend\" has shed any light on the subject- I know about Walter Jones, and it\'s not a question of whether or not he will get punked this weekend, rather, the question should be how many times he will get punked. I know about Strong- he\'s no big secret if you follow the NFL at all. I\'m fully aware of what he can do. If I remember correctly, he had a great game against us last year.
Not sure why Green\'s name came up- they\'re not the same runner, with the exception of speed. Deuce I\'m not all too concerned about, considering he ripped 99 yards on 22 attempts last year, and I\'ve seen better defensive lines...as a matter of fact, we have one of them. Wouldn\'t look for Alexander to break the 100 yard barrier this weekend- yeah, I said it. So?
My two concerns are- 1. Hamlin- what can I say, I really like this guy. Always love watching him play. Potential pro-bowler. 2. Robinson/Jackson- will either bring their A-game? If so, we could be in for a brutal contest. If they have a case of the \"drops\", which happens to these two a few times, it\'ll be over faster than one of Hasselbeck\'s Rogaine treatments. They suffer the same problem that we\'ve seen in the Big Easy with our receivers.

...and bro, I wouldn\'t be too quick to **** on our linebackers, Seattle is not in the best of shape at that position either. Brown going down with a broken leg musta hurt, considering his backup looks like he would be more comfortable playing Uncle Fester on a Munsters remake. Simmons is good, but our O-Line is good enough to know this, so don\'t look for him to lay the wood very often. And if you watch any of our games, you know how well our O-lineman are at getting to the 2nd level on run plays.

O.K, guys. My miniture hiatus is over. By the way, mods. Who screens these people?!?!?!

Seattle has a much better secondary than the Saints, there is no question, but I guarantee Hasselbeck won\'t be throwing to Freddy\'s side of the field very much. After Ambrose gets torched a couple of times, Haslett better have the keen judgement to put in Fahkir Brown. Tebucky Jones will be much improved and show it in this game. Jackson and Robinson better think twice before going across the middle or you will see the same scenario as Stallworth/Hamlin last year, only with a T-Buck laying the lumber. The quick pass rush the Saints have on the front line (no matter what combination of Howard, Grant, Green, Smith, Sullivan, and Young) will cause chaos for Hasselbeck all day long. On run plays, if Alexander is good enough to get through the D-line, he better keep his head up for Courtney Watson and Derrick Rodgers. They\'ll make his think twice about running up the middle or on the weak side.

As far as the offensive side of the ball for the Saints, Deuce will run that line and those weak Seattle linebackers over like a redheaded stepchild. I can see Donte\' outrunning ALL of the Hawks secondary and Brooks hitting him in stride for big gains. Our two tight end packages will be a good diversion for the receiving corps later in the game. After a few outs to the tight ends, the secondary and linebackers will be so focused on Deuce, Boo, and Ernie, that it will open the field up for Horn, Pathon, and Stallworth to light up the secondary. Speaking of the Hawks secondary, who did they get to replace Springs? Oh, yeah. Bobby Taylor. Can he stay healthy? Has he lost a step? The Saints secondary will sure enough be willing to find out, as they will go towards him early.

My prediction: Saints 23 Seattle 16

BlackandBlue 09-09-2004 02:22 PM

If Taylor\'s overrated ass starts, he\'ll be protected by the rest of Seattle\'s secondary, much like he was when he was in Philly.
And is Boulware going to start this weekend? Robinson is injured, I think, but I don\'t know how bad.

rlrigmaiden 09-09-2004 03:10 PM

Greetings from a Hawks fan

Good topics, fellas. Let me see what I can say about them- one at a time.

1. Kazyvenski (Brown\'s replacement) is definitely no slouch. I\'m pretty sure none of you have seen him play much, so I wont go into it far. He\'ll blow up the run as well as any LB in the game, but his pass coverage isn\'t stellar. I\'m sure Haslett will game plan for that and try to get Deuce paired with him. Having said that, this guy\'s a gamer who always seems to make plays despite coming from Harvard and being \"Uncle Fester\" (according to you guys). By the way, he\'s better than any LB you have on your roster and he\'s our 2nd backup.

2. Bobby Taylor wont be starting, Ken Lucas will. Lucas has started the past two years for us and has been up and down, but he\'s 6\'0\" and fast as hell. He\'s also had the best training camp out of any DB we have (including Trufant) and is looking to have a monster year because he\'s a FA next year. If he should somehow not get re-signed with us, I highly suggest you guys take a look at him next year. Oh, wait a sec, Haslett\'s ignored your weakest link (CB) for the past three years. Nevermind, you guys will probably just go with the great Fred Thomas!

Taylor will be our nickel guy and should do well. He\'s definitely lost a step, but no more than Ambrose or Thomas. He\'s still a player and I\'m sure he can blanket Pathon or any other #3 WR you put in there.

3. Yes, the loss of Brown hurts. He\'s easily my favorite player, but more importantly one of the best OLB\'s in the game. He can blitz, cover and tackle. What Saints fans fail to realize is that we have awesome depth, especially at LB. That\'s why no one\'s too worried about it. You guys also fail to realize that we still have Anthony Simmons, who\'s a beast.

4. If you guys think Ernie Conwell is a solid player, you\'re worse off than I thought. I do like Boo Williams. but he still hasn\'t shown me enough for me to worry. If you think Ray Rhodes is seriously worried about Conwell, guess again. I\'m sure he\'s only worried about one thing- DEUCE.

5. For the pseudo-smart prognosticator that predicts Walter Jones will get used this weekend, good luck. Your only hope is that he\'s so rusty that your DE\'s will get by him, because other than that, you\'re in for disappointment. Chances are you will get your sacks, but probably not against him. I hope Haslett\'s got some blitzes planned because with Jones, Hutchinson and Terry out there I feel pretty comfortable.

6. As for Hamlin being the one who got the worse end of that hit on Stallworth, c\'mon bro. Yeah, I know Donte popped right up, all receivers do. They want to send a message that it didn\'t hurt or affect them. However, I noticed after that that Stallworth had his a** on the sideline for the next few plays. Hell, even your own Jerome Pathon said that Stallworth hasn\'t been the same since that hit. Don\'t kid yourself about that, bro. Your boy got lit up. It\'s ok, it\'s part of football. Darrell Jackson got killed two years ago in Dallas and almost passed out in the locker room. It\'s a part of football, but don\'t try and say Stallworth was \"fine\".

7. You\'re right about Seattle being the \"media darlings\" of the NFL right now. For the record, I\'m not too sure about how I feel about that. Our franchise, much like your own, hasn\'t had too many great seasons and I\'m very used to being the underdog. It\'ll be interesting to see how we handle the added pressure.

8. If you think we\'re going to throw away from Fred Thomas, then you guys are officially on crack. Yeah, Ambrose is worse than Thomas and we\'ll probably look his direction a few times, but Thomas simply isn\'t good enough to warrant that kind of game-planning. I can\'t even remember a game when we steered clear of any CB and that includes last year when we played Champ Bailey and Chris McAllister. Yeah, I know we lost both of those games, but it wasn\'t a CB that won those games for them.

By the way, what\'s up with not trading for McKenzie? I think that move would be very nice for your defense.

Later, fellas.

One quick note, though: I\'d much rather have our secondary with our D-line than your secondary with your D-line. Seriously... just cause you overpaid for the ex-Mutton, doesn\'t make you Baltimore. We\'ve learned hear in NO during the offseason that cbs are overrated. Paul and John might\'ve only needed love... but round here all you need\'s a pash-rush.I don\'t seriously think that your O-line can stand up to the rotation our D\'s gonna be able to provide on the line. Didn\'t want to get into this at work, so sorry for the delay. You keep throwing stuff out there, though, so I guess I\'ll be the one to bite (thanks for dragging me into this, WhoDat) ;)

Quote:

I\'m pretty sure none of you have seen him play much, so I wont go into it far.
Humor me. I\'m always open to new information. As much as I would love the ability to break down every single player in the NFL, time contraints dictate that. So what information can you provide that would shed a light as to why Fester is better than any other linebacker on our team, including Rodgers, which I find laughable. Better yet, let me tell you what I know about him, and you can come in and fill in the blanks. I know he graduated from the perennial powerhouse they have at Harvard, who are notorius for their blue-chip linebackers. And just like you said, his strength is against the run. But outside of him never starting a complete season, my knowledge is limited- good thing Holmgren elected not to trade him, as I\'m sure this top prospect has fielded many proposals.

Ahhh, Lucas, can\'t believe I forgot about him. What can I say, the guy\'s good.

Quote:

Taylor will be our nickel guy and should do well. He\'s definitely lost a step, but no more than Ambrose or Thomas. He\'s still a player and I\'m sure he can blanket Pathon or any other #3 WR you put in there.
Out of respect for me, please don\'t compare Taylor to Thomas- that\'s a joke. And please, continue to underrate Thomas, he\'s only been a shadow of the receivers he\'s covered in the preseason, and has been nothing short of perfection. I\'ve NEVER been one to overrate any of the Saints players, just ask anyone here, but Thomas could sneak his way into the pro bowl this year, as an alternative, obviously- he does have his limits.

Quote:

You guys also fail to realize that we still have Anthony Simmons, who\'s a beast.
I don\'t fail. Reread my post from earlier, I gave Simmons props.

Quote:

For the pseudo-smart prognosticator that predicts Walter Jones will get used this weekend, good luck.
I still stand by my statement. Look, it doesn\'t matter who you have out their at tackle, eventually the ends are going to get pressure on the QB. I\'m just curious how many times the Prince will do that, lining up across from Jones. I never said it would be alot, nor did I say it would be very little. I know that the odds aren\'t good, but short of Ogden, I don\'t know too many tackles in the league that can completely dominate their defensive counterparts for an entire game. And I\'m not saying sacks, either, just some pressure.

Quote:

Thomas simply isn\'t good enough to warrant that kind of game-planning.
Koren Robinson (Receptions- 3)(Yards- 56)(TD\'s- 1)
Darrell Jackson- (Receptions- 3)(Yards- 53)(TD\'s-0)

I\'ll take my chances ;)

I don\'t know if I underrate Thomas, I think I\'m just giving him his due. He\'s a solid #2 CB at best. Don\'t forget we had him here for some time. I loved him as our nickel guy, but he was easily expendable.

Let\'s face facts, fellas. If Thomas is that good, why are there CB trade rumors, acquisitions and Draft rumors constantly flying around when the time arises. Why does every Draft expert, and even self-appointed experts, always have the Saints looking for CB help every April? It\'s because your CB\'s are your WEAKEST LINK. It\'s just something you have to cope with.

For the past three years (or basically since DE Michael Sinclair stopped dropping QB\'s 12-16 times a year), DE has been our achilles heal. It was extremely tough watching opposing QB\'s sit in the pocket for an eternity waiting for a DB to fall for a WR\'s quadruple move. I don\'t care if you had Deion, Champ, McAllister and Night Traine Lane in our secondary, we\'d have gotten beat. But Holmgren finally wised up to realizing that 300 pound DE\'s don\'t have much speed (see Lamar King and Antonio Cochran) and usually don\'t get to QB\'s often. In turn we finally acquired a speed guy, Chike O\'Keafor and brought in Wistrom. Now don\'t get me wrong, neither of these guys will ever be Pepper, Kearse or Jason Taylor, but they\'re good for 8-10 a year, which is more than what we\'re used to the past few years.
My point is that one way or another you\'ve got to deal with your problems. It\'s quite obvious that Haslett\'s method has been to upgrade your front four in hope of disguising your CB\'s lack of talent. And that may work, I\'ll give you that. However, while I like your DE\'s, I don\'t think they\'re that much better than ours. You definitely have more youth and depth, but I think we\'re a much more talented team as a whole. Let\'s break it down...

On the left side you\'ve got Grant, who I really like alot. He had a good 10-sack year last year. However, he\'s not very stout vs. the run and is much like our LDE, O\'Keafor, who brought down QB\'s 8 times last year. 2 sacks isn\'t a ton of difference, but it is better, I\'ll give ya that.

On the right side you\'ve got Howard and Smith. I like both of these guys, but Howard seems to always be nicked up and Smith is a rookie. And, as mentioned before, they\'ll have to deal with Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson. Howard had 5 sacks last year, while Grant Wistrom had 7.5 . Again, it\'s a slight edge (this time in our favor), so big deal. Smith will obviously be your nickel pass rusher when Howard comes off the field. We\'ve got a guy like that too, although he wont be on the field, Chad Brown.

Now let\'s look at the DB\'s again. You\'ve got Thomas, and believe me I don\'t think the guy sucks by any means, Ambrose and Craft. Tell ya what, just for the sake of the argument, I\'ll say that Thomas is a legit #1 CB. He and Marcus \"The Saints should\'ve Drafted me\" Trufant are a push. I definitely don\'t agree with that, but for the sake of the argument, let\'s do it. Then we come to the #2 CB\'s. You\'ve got Ambrose and we\'ve got Lucas, the guy who the NFL Network just put on TV to demonstrate \"perfect coverage\" this pre-season. I\'m hoping you\'ll all agree with me and say the \'Hawks get ya on that one. Let\'s go to our #3 CB, Bobby Taylor, who has to be better than Jason Craft.

My point of all this, If you\'ve bared with me this long, is that I simply don\'t agree with \"Whowatches\" statement about him liking his D-line and DB\'s vs. ours. If you\'ve followed my opinions, I think you\'d agree. It\'s obvious to me that our D-lines are more similar than most of us think and that Seattle\'s DB\'s are, by a huge margin, much better than the Saints\' But, this is why they play the game, gentleman. If the better \"on paper\" team were to win every time we\'d be fans of an extremely pathetic sport that is quickly losing it\'s luster around the country . . . BASEBALL!!!!!

Back to business. Let me answer some questions from the NO faithful...

BlackandBlue-

Very funny about Kacyvenski\'s trade rumors. Let\'s not forget he\'s the #2 backup behind Brown and D.D. Lewis, ok. Like I said, he\'s no All Pro, but he simply makes plays. He and Bannister (Pro Bowler Special Teamer last year) are absolute studs on Kick and Punt teams. He\'s great vs. the run, but he\'ll also have moments of brilliance against the pass too (see him covering Ahman Green in the playoffs last year). I don\'t know about you guys, but being OK with our #2 backup OLB out there suits me just fine. I don\'t know how many teams have that luxury.

As for your point that your DE\'s will get pressure through Walter Jones, I certainly hope you do. If not, they\'re doing something seriously wrong. But I wouldn\'t expect too much outta them.

As for your predictions, I noticed Jackson and Robinson only have 6 catches between them. I\'m going to guess that Hasselbeck completes at 20 passes, so who do the other completions go to? Here\'s some amateur fortune telling of my own.

Jackson- 7 catches, 103 yards 1 TD
Robinson- 4 catches, 71 yards
Stevens- 4 catches, 51 yards 1 TD
Mili- 2 catches, 17 yards
Alexander- 2 catches, 22 yards
Morris- 1 catch, 8 yards

We like to spread the love, bro!!!

Whowatches-

Remember, that \"hanky of doom\" goes both ways, bro. You\'ll get yours, and we\'ll get ours. I just hope this season doesn\'t turn out to be a damn laundry fest. Thanks, Ty Law!!!!

I\'ve definitely enjoyed our points-of-view in this forum, fellas. This is what these forums are for and it\'s fun to get some friendly banter going. No matter what happens on gameday, I promise you that I\'ll be back in here congratulating you on a game well-played, no matter what the outcome.

I\'m beginning to like you guys here in LA. You\'re kinda like Seattle\'s Junior Varsity team. Think about it, Fred Thomas, Jay Bellamy, Lamar Smith and Darrin Smith. All former \'Hawks! Steve Gleason, former Spokane, WA guy ( who we played high school ball with) and WSU alum; Jerome Pathon (UW), James Allen (Oregon State). There\'s alot of Northwest kids down there.

Later, guys.

He\'s a solid #2 CB at best.
He’s a solid #1. Thomas has progressed more than any other player I’ve seen in a Saints uniform.

Quote:

If Thomas is that good, why are there CB trade rumors, acquisitions and Draft rumors constantly flying around when the time arises. Why does every Draft expert, and even self-appointed experts, always have the Saints looking for CB help every April?
Why has Dallas been concerned about their CB position since they let Edwards go? Is it because Newman hasn’t panned out? No, just like Dallas, you would need to look across the field, opposite Thomas/Newman, and you can see why CB has always been a priority for us, one that has been overlooked, cause Craft isn’t the answer.

Quote:

On the left side you\'ve got Grant, who I really like alot. He had a good 10-sack year last year. However, he\'s not very stout vs. the run and is much like our LDE
True. But he loves him some Hasselbeck (2 sacks last year).

Quote:

but Howard seems to always be nicked up and Smith is a rookie.
Howard has never had any problems with injuries, up until last year, and it looks like he won’t start the opener this year. Which is why I’m concerned with how much pressure Smith will generate in his absence.

Quote:

Howard had 5 sacks last year, while Grant Wistrom had 7.5 . Again, it\'s a slight edge (this time in our favor), so big deal.
Wistrom started all 16 games, Howard only started 8, but I digress.

Quote:

He and Marcus \"The Saints should\'ve Drafted me\" Trufant are a push.
Yup. I was the one screaming from the rafters around here that we drafted the wrong player. But I’m not going to give you that. They might be equals now, but Trufant has tremendous upside.

Quote:

I\'m hoping you\'ll all agree with me and say the \'Hawks get ya on that one.
Can’t argue with logic.

As for your predictions
Those weren’t predictions. Those were the stats from last years game. Like I said, I’ll take my chances ;)

As for the Seahawks\' supposed \"domination\" of the Saints in last year\'s game.....the fact is that the Saints out gained the Seahawks 359 yards to 270, ran 75 plays to Seattle’s 59, and held nearly a 10 minute advantage in time of possession. The game hinged on the fact that the Saints put the ball on the ground four times while the Seahawks did so not once.

Ok, gents, the time for smack-talking and banter is over. Good luck to your team today. As I mentioned before, I\'ll be back in here after the game, regardless of who wins.

PS- I don\'t know if anyone saw it or not, but FS Ken Hamlin\'s a bit banged up and may not start.
