Current Cap Space?

Does anyone know where we stand in cap space? Could there be room for Victor Butler and Nnamdi Asomugha?

Don't quote me but I just read somewhere that we are 5.4 million over.
Sorry I can't back this number up.

Interesting... Do you know if Harper restructured his contract? Loomis and the front office do a heck of a job creating space under the cap to make roster moves. I can't imagine us being over the cap, yet somehow we have money to acquire Lewis, and talking about signing Nnamdi and possibly another free agent.

Loomis will make it work no matter how much it is and if he doesn't Benson can get off the money pot and pay those fines!

Will Smith is the worst possible fit in a 3-4 defense, I still think he gets released. Im not sure how much that would free up though.

That's the thing with Smith, even if we release him he hits our cap so we might as well keep him.

Payton has talked about the defense has played variations of the 34 in the past, and although Smith is not your ideal 34 end at least he is a veteran who can get to the passer. He is not a total loss in my opinion... he can play the run and is a veteran who can probably handle learning another defensive scheme. We could do worse.

So I agree, we might as well keep him. How long is he signed for? I think he is in the last year of his contract. But I could be wrong about that.
