Saints Coach Sean Payton isn't sold yet on left tackle Charles Brown taking over for Jermon Bushrod.

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton was about as clear as day during the NFL owners meetings this week about the state of the left tackle position in New Orleans with two-time Pro Bowler Jermon Bushrod moving on to the Bears during free agency.

"I look at that spot (on the depth chart) like there's a magnet with no name on it," Payton said. "Gray, it's just gray."

...The problem for the Saints now is they don't know what they have in Charles Brown, who as of right now would be the starter.

The 2010 second-round pick appeared to have turned a corner last season after filling in nicely for an injured Zach Strief during a three-game stretch in the middle of the 2012 season. Then Brown sustained another season-ending injury during his third start in Oakland. It was the second time in three seasons where Brown ended the season on IR. Nagging injuries during his time off injured reserve plagued Brown as well.

"I brought up the term available, though," Payton said. "And so that's the one thing he's going to have to (be). He has to be available. Year after year if you're unable to (stay on the field), then it becomes as a coach do we have him, do we not have him. Oh, we do have him, but oh he's out and we don't have him. It's hard to game plan then."

He's Andrew Bynum of New Orleans.

"Who's going to be our left tackle? " Payton asked. "If you ask me what keeps me up at night, there would be two areas: how are we going to improve our pass rush and who are we going to be at left tackle?"

Jones was just one of the tackles they had on the roster, they have another cant remember his name anyone know how's he doing?
Charles Brown Sucks, can't stay healthy probably due to his piss poor work ethic.
Sebastian Vollmer still out there, lets just hope no one shows interest and we can get him cheap, I know wishful thinking.

1. Sebastian Vollmer, OT: It's amazing he might get less money than Jermon Bushrod. Sign this man!

Just read this on NFL.Com, I would love to have this guy. Cut Will Smith & Vilma, this should create enough cap room to sign several needed players. Lets face it Smith is over the hill and hasn't generated a pass rush since I can remember and Vilma may not be suited for the 3-4 defense, isn't that why the Jets (Rex Ryan) let him go. The last time I checked the Ryan brothers learned how to coach a defense from the same person old Buddy Ryan.

Vollmer at $6 million? No thanks. Good, but not at that price. Doesn't he have serious back issues??

And gotta disagree with you on Smith. He's been a solid veteran, no not spectacular, but he's a guy Payton values.

I don't project Vilma as a starter, more a situational player next season but again - a guy who Payton values.

I don't know is that what New England resigned him for, doubt that they spent 6 million on a guy with back issues.

Smith may have been a decent player at one time but at this point he snot worth the money they have to spend to keep him, IMO. I never saw him as an elite DE that needed to be paid what they were paying him. Thanks for the effort but need to get younger and need the cap room so BYE.
