Re: Victor Butler or Namdi Asomugha??

for the money Namdi will probably want

you could probably sign Butler and another solid vet to add depth to fill in another hole in the roster.

So to sign both would probably mean you could have added 2 more mid level vets to the team.

take that same money and you probably could sign Butler and up to 3 more solid mid level vets.

I would say pass and go with the "probably" 4 mid level vets

a lot of probably in there.

I am not convinced with all the holes we still need to fill that Nahmi gets us to the superbowl.

Elbert Mack waiting in the wings...

if Nnnnamdi doesn't sign, he will next to be signed.

With ya Hagan - Butler and depth more important than one DB.

Considering the lack of draft picks - must continue value shopping!

If we don't get Nnamdi then Antione Winfield might be someone worth looking at as a temporary fix. He should be affordable.

Greer and Lewis should not be a bad tandem with White with a wing under his belt...

Sign OT Sebastian Vollmer, NE and you have a full squad with minimal exposure to Drew of the left side now...

If its between Nnamdi and Butler, I would take the chance on Butler. We have to generate more of a pass rush than we have the past few seasons.

Butler. Nothing makes mediocre secondary players look better than forcing a QB. A top CB (and I'm not even sure Nnamdi is one anymore) may get you the odd coverage sack, but a solid pass rush will pay dividends all day long.

Butler is cheaper, younger and at a greater need position than another CB frankly.

If I had to choose between the two then I suppose I'd go with butler. Still want both, still hopeful on both fronts. As to the notion of signing vollmer, he's better suited as a RT, and signing him means goodbye cap space and no realistic chance of signing anyone other than scrap heap FA's.

Re: Victor Butler or Namdi Asomugha??

Both.

Regarding Butler - I mean for a guy with 11 career sacks, how much is he really going to cost?

Regarding Nnamdi - For a guy coming off two terrible seasons and still collecting 4 million dollars from the Eagles, how much is he really going to cost?

If either is looking for too much money, I think it's Butler. There's already an established price point for corners on the market already. With Butler making plenty of visits and not signing a deal yet, leads me to believe he's looking for more money than one would think.

Re: Victor Butler or Namdi Asomugha??

Of the two I'd rather have Butler. He would be very much along the lines of a Jabari Greer type of signing to me. Just starting to hit his stride and the skies the limit. Nnamdi would be nice but we need the money he's going to get.
There will be a couple of players that we can sign when cuts come around if we don't sign another player in FA. I know we will to prepare for the draft.......just sayin' ;)
Why hasn't Mack been signed? He looked good when he was on the field.

Sign the Vollmer or Huff...

Re: Victor Butler or Namdi Asomugha??

I'm not sure if it's a situation of one or the other with these two players, but having seen Asomugha play lights out before with the Raiders and show some flashes even with the Eagles, I'd probably go with him if the price is right. Nothing against Butler, but I haven't seen him play or I haven't just noticed him when I've seen him play, so I don't know how much signing him would actually improve the Saints' pass rush.

Oh, and Winfield and the Vikes have been in talks of him re-signing with them - kind of like what happened with Herring and the Saints.

Butler hands down. They're plenty corners in this draft that will be ready to fill in better than Nnamdi. My eyes on Robert Alford 3rd rd
