Joe Morgan Could Be Next Star For New Orleans Saints

Joe Morgan is one of the youngest and most exciting wide receivers in the league, but he wonít remain under-the-radar much longer. I think 2013 could be a breakout year for Morgan as the New Orleans Saints are looking to replenish at the wideout position. Sure, Drew Brees has plenty of targets to his leisure, but I believe that Morgan will make his mark this year.

Last season was pretty much a wash for a maligned Saints team that was without a head coach for the entire season and switched interim coaches halfway through the year. With Sean Payton back in the fold, the offense will have much more consistency in 2013 which is only going to benefit the maturation of Morgan.

Itís hard to believe that an undrafted free agent from Walsh University could be the future at wide receiver, however the soon-to-be 25-year-old could soon become Breesí new favorite target in a matter of months. Getting Morgan involved last season seemed to help this offense as Morgan hauled in only 10 passes in 2012, but three of those passes were for touchdowns. Even more impressive is that Morgan racked up 379 yards despite meager targets.

Morgan averaged nearly 38 yards a catch last season, however I think that number will rise as he gets more involved into the Saints offense. Marques Colston has been the man for the Saints for quite some time, but Brees will soon have to find other targets and I think Morgan is in a great position to breakout in 2013.

As long as the Atlanta Falcons are in the NFC South the Saints wonít rival them for best wide receivers, but Morgan will put his stamp on the NFL this season.

Im excited about joe morgan

He really started to make an impact last season and made some incredible catches, the diving catch vs 49ers immediately comes to mind

Hes hungry to learn and can only get better with drew at the controls and SP back

We shall see. Hopefully he's not a one trick pony.

If his one trick is TDs I am okay with that.

We have to have someone to stretch the field. With Devery and Meachem gone, he's our only deep speed guy, although I don't know much about our PS guys.

I think we claimed someone off of Dallas' PS that has sub 4.3ish speed.

He's raw, but he's raw at mach 5.

It was Saalim Hakim (yes, Az's little brother), he supposedly ran a 4.23, recorded on a youtube video that went viral.

If Morgan continues to develop, it would not be a reach to see him starting opposite of Colston come season opener.

Raw at Mach 5 is essentially Henderson and Meachem... They were both fast and could catch but neither developed into refined route runners.

Roadrunner with big hands is all we need.
