I see offensive attitudes and Defensive attitudes differently and they have different needs.

offense - Needs a I will catch the ball because i am going to get hit anyway sort of mentality.

defense - If I am going to hit someone I want his teeth scattered on the turff like chick-lets... even if he doesnt have the ball.
I can't help but notice the hypocrisy in your statements here. I believe it was yesterday, maybe the day before, that you were arguing with me about my dislike for the new helmet to helmet rule, because I don't like the grey area that exists with that kind of thing.

You gave me all this talk about how players shouldn't lead with the crown of their helmet (which I agree with, if it is intentional, but often it's not), and now you're arguing with me over James Harrison's propensity to try to knock guys heads off. Which, by the way, he almost always leads with the crown of his helmet. You're now telling me that this is acceptable in his case, because we need his "grit". I love big hits, but I see this guy aim for the head with great regularity. I don't respect that.

I'm sure you'll try to tell me that I misunderstood you somehow, but I assure you, I have not.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: James Harrison to Saints?

You want to be physical, and you want to do whatever you can to win. Winning is more important for players (at least it should be) than it is for fans, because it's their job. But when all is said and done, it is still a game. There is life after football. You can hit someone hard without trying to kill them. Injuries happen, and that should be understood. I think most penalties are overblown because things happen when you're going full speed.

But James Harrison crosses the line of incidental. This is why the Saints got crucified in the media for the program they were said to have run... The problem is that there isn't any visual evidence of the Saints trying to hurt people. They just played football. That's why I maintain my respect for this organization.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Harris is an upgrade for us. I'd take him for a season and roll the dice.
