Grimes to Dolphins

ProFootballTalk ‏@ProFootballTalk 2m
Grimes deal has $5 million in base money, $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses. $2.25 million signing bonus. $750,000 of salary guaranteed.

Could it be what Asomugha has been waiting for?

TheOak 03-30-2013 10:32 AM

As in?

NinthWardJay 03-30-2013 10:48 AM

You mean waiting to see what Grimes would get in order to gauge how much he should get?

DRC got the same amount in Denver. That market has already been set. Maybe he's holding out for a long term deal, but that's unlikely if he's going about it that way.

He's loaded out the wazoo... and already getting paid for the year. Seems like he's just enjoying the off season.

Ok... here's what I don't understand about people saying the Falcons are having a great offseason: They are the exact same team if not worse now. Oh how awesome that they signed Steven Jackson!! Big whoop. They have lost 3 of their CB's in free agency and that's not just back-up players. I hope the Falcons are happy that after all of their whining last season that people didn't give them any respect now they're in the limelight. It's just gonna make it even sweeter when we whoop their ass next season as we usually do and all the analysts say "Well maybe the Falcons were a little bit overrated since the Saints had a lost season last year."

I don't know that he has a season to wait out. If he wants the chance at a ring, (What else is left for him?) taking a season off will make him a pretty cold commodity. Look at him right now, he's only talking with contenders that use a scheme that will allow him to shine. Between them, it's a chance to compete for a position or a starting slot. If I hadn't learned long ago about gambling, I'd put a twenty spot down that you'll soon be seeing him eating late lunches on Bourbon Street.

Were having a great off season because we replaced a crap running back with a slightly younger up-tempo running back, which fits our offense better. We signed a slightly younger veteran end to replace a DE that was very old and dinked up a lot. You said we lost 3 CBs like all but one of them was quality starters. Dunta Robinson was released because he was trash in zone coverage, Chris Owens was the #5 corner on our roster played more special teams than anything(you could replace him) and Brent Grimes played a total of 3 quarters last season. We still have time to sign another veteran corner or another end or we could even draft a corner or end with our 1st and 2nd round picks.

You guys are hilarious, I really find it hard to engage in all the hate because I respect the NO organization as a whole but to each its own. I prefer to talk about what has happened lately and as of lately Matt and Smith have led us to the NFC Championship, were a few steps away from being right where we want to be.

you are right...lately, the SAINTS got screwed by goodell...they took our coach, and 2 second rounders from us...in an off year for us the falcons were able to beat out the high power buccaneers and the dominating panthers to earn a #1 seed...they won a game against a surprising but inexperienced(and injured) seatle team...then they lost to SF...congrats...BUT..........WE ARE BACK!!!!

Re: Grimes to Dolphins

Hey, I was being intelligent and serious about Smith. The only thing that broke his perfect playoff record was he ran into a guy who was a worse coach than he is on that day. Carroll will learn about passing up short field goals in the first half. Smith is never going to learn about how to make half time adjustments. I know you're all starry eyed about that first playoff victory, but Smith and Matty Brown Spot were a bit more than a few steps away from beating San Fran. That's all good though. Sit back this year and we'll show you how it's done.

BTW, hope you have a good sense of humor, it's fun to have someone around to talk a little smack with.

Michael Turner and Steven Jackson both came out of the same draft class and Turner had thousands of less miles on him that Jackson does since Turner was primarily a back up his 1st 3 seasons. Jackson is a wash at best and certainly not an upgrade at the position. Both were in decline. Osi is no upgrade to Abraham. Osi is a terrible run defense end and his pass rush was non-existent even playing on a better line. The best thing to happen to Atlanta this offseason was Gonzalez returning.
