Possible trade in the works?

So what do y'all think? Any chance Mickey and co are in talks w/ the Chiefs about trading for this guy? Do we have anyone we could use as trade bait? I don't know too much about him, but he's an LT and we have a need...

send them Colston. We have great receivers and Drew even makes them better.

Outside of future draft picks or our 1st this draft I don't see anyone that has value that they would take.

Brandon Albert's FT is $9.8M It is a signed tag and all guaranteed.

We have nothing to trade of equal cap value, and can not afford to pile more on.

Y'all quit worrying about LT we will draft 1 to compete to secure competition at LT! Mickey and Sean aren't parting with a valuable pick 15! They want a blue chipper!

I don't see Albert coming our way as well. I know Brown has his issues with injuries, but he did play well last season when he was healthy.

I don't think we can even afford this guy . . . . he's in his contract year just like JIMMY GRAHAM and he's a hellova left tackle . . .. I would love to see him in BLACK AND GOLD but i don't think it can happen . . ..

Not worried, just looking for insight. You're a feisty one, eh?

Re: Possible trade in the works?

I would love to have Albert be the LT next season - he was the one I targeted from the beginning of the offseason to replace Bushrod with - but the financial aspect makes such a trade very doubtful.

Although, Harper and Ivory would combine for about $9M cap hit... ;-)

Re: Possible trade in the works?

We can't do it. Well maybe we can but I think it handcuffs us too much and with him on a 1 year tender it is insane for us to take him without a longer term deal in place.

I think we don't move on the position of LT until we see how the draft plays out. If we lose out on Alberts before hand so be it. There are lots of plan B's available.

Depends on how a new contract is written that's all. it would not be easy but i think they could work something out.

Albert wants Left Tackle money and he is not worth it...

We don't have the cap or Picks to make this trade Highly unlikely

They released their starting LT, and tagged his back up. Even if they draft a LT, this guy is not going anywhere. They need insurance.

LOL! Who doesn't like to share insight on their favorite football team!
Another thing to let you know why the Saints covet and show it through them replacing Nicks immediately with Grubbs and their willing to pay Evans and Grubbs top gaurd money! The reason is if you watch games Drew gets effected by inside pressure alot more consistently than outside pressure because of his nifty footwork and shoulder shruggs he also likes to step in and up into his throws when throwings deep which is often! Just a tidbit to mull iver it's obvious when you watch because when the center play wss in flux or when teams just blitzed up the middle and it wasn't picked up Drew was either sacked or hurried! Drew actually made Bushrod a star when really he is just solid at best, but don't get me wrong he did everything asked of him!

Re: Possible trade in the works?

O YEA my point was the Saints covet inside protection over outside protection because of Drew's pocket presence! LoL

Some people are just flat tripping without a suitcase. The 15 th pick will be used on the best player available as they always do or trade back into the first for a second round pick that Goodell stole from us. I hope they draft Tavon Austin as I've said in other threads.
Charles Brown will play LT and hopefully doesn't get hurt like usual, he'll get help on elite defensive ends the same a Bushrod did, stop tripping on the LT position everything will be fine.
IMO the defense is shaping up, could use another corner but not a show stopper what we have will do if they can generate a pass rush, just for the record I believe they will not only be able to generate a pass rush but also do it a whole lot better than last year.

Seeing as Charles Brown hasn't made it through a full season without injury, what's your contingency plan?

At the moment it seems to be Marcel Jones, but he is far from being starter-ready after missing out his entire rookie season with an injury.

And in any case, Jones is better suited to be a RT, at least that's what a lot of scouts said about him before last year's draft, but he was evaluated as having all the tools to be a really good RT when all is said and done.

Regardless who they take in the draft LT will be an issue, McKinnie is still available and probably will be after the draft. I think their going to try and sign a veteran tackle after the draft, If it were me I would look at McKinnie as a contingency plan to Brown considering his injury problems.
Marcel Jones and Bryan Harris is also on the roster that can play tackle.
I do know that drafting a tackle to start at position 15 or later is not the answer to protecting one of the best QB'S in the NFL.
