How the hell do they still have so much space with the contract they gave out last year?
Is Freeman still on a rookie deal?

Kinda interesting to me that the Falcons are so close (even closer than the Saints???) and there hasn't even been a draft yet. They seem to be going for a "WIN NOW OR BUST" type of desperation strategy with the free agency moves.

The Bucs sunk $140M into three FA in 2012... And did squat. Bucs ownership may not be able to afford to meet the cap.

Atlanta going all in just means a bigger pile for us to rake. :-)

I HERE YOU! Saints are actually sitting pretty they have all their staff back and all their players they want to keep. Now they still have some transactions to make especially involving Roman Harper and maybe if some other pieces don't fit or we trade a piece that we have extras of #rb and if we draft a #1cb maybe we trade Greer but I wouldn't I like to have an extra db or two, but if we sraft a cb early then come back and get. Tyran Matheiu later then we can definitely trade a cb! One things for sure the Saints will be wheeling and dealing on draft weekend!

Falcons look really low considering all the new talent they added that will need to consume cap space in future years.

or maybe they won't over pay Ryan. What is the going rate for a choke artist... league minimum?

There's a salary floor this year as well. Not that it's hard to spend money but Tampa is far below that floor, as of right now.

Heard on Total Access this evening; deal is supposed to be on par with Flacco's. Somewhere around 20 million a year...

There is a salary cap floor this year as well as the next three. However the way the salary cap floor is set up is that a team has to spend 89% of the salary cap over a four year average. They have until 2016 to make up the difference.

What the Bucs are doing is rather brilliant, due to the carry over. They can come in under the cap this year by $30M which will carry over to next years cap. Then next year they can dominate the freeagency market with high dollar front loaded contracts.

Example: The Bucs could offer jimmy Graham a six year deal worth 42.8M making him the highest paid TE in the NFL. 15.3M the first year and 5.5M for the next 5 years. And they still have 15M to spend that is carry over.

Chew on that one for a while :-)

Next year there will be a lot of cap strung teams due to QB contracts.

Saints
Falcons
Ravens
Packers
