Still a developmental player IMO. Not a guy who's ready to play the run.

I am playing the hand that is presently dealt, until Loomis starts flipping his cards I'm not willing to go all on.

I could care less about the PS also, their cost can't be ignored. When the budget is tight necessities should be addressed first.

Still time to trade.... :birthday:

I just can't get over this about Mingo...

Weaknesses: Looks more like a small forward than an NFL defensive end and could be asked to make the transition to outside linebacker, a position he's never played. While possessing explosive straight-line speed, has very long legs, which make him less fluid when changing directions than ideal. Relies upon his burst upfield to beat pass blockers and simply hasn't developed the counter moves to complement his speed in three seasons of action, leading to some concerns that he won't.

I understand he has all the potential in the world, but I'm kinda wary of another "upside" guy that has to switch positions

Trade who? If you are talking about Harper that has been covered, no one in his right mind would accept his price tag in today's market. $5.25M

Round peg, round hole.

Bingo (not mingo)

I'd rather see us reach a little bit for a 'round peg' LT than pick up a 'developmental' player with potential. And that comment should be taken with a grain of salt, in that almost all rook's need to 'develop' their game to get used to NFL speed

Who knows, maybe we get lucky and there's a rush on QBs, pass rushers, and Tavon Austin/Cordarrelle Patterson before 15, and somebody like L Johnson falls. I still am not convinced that Fluker would be a bad pick-up for us either. A little bit of a reach maybe, but see above. If we go Best Player Available at a position of need and not Best Athlete Available (Thanks Hagan for clearing that up) then JMO, Fluker might be what we need. Whether he can step in and start (esp at LT, but not sure if Chucky Brown is any better at this point), well, that's another question

Change it up a little but Tyson Clabo is going to be released. I think if we can add it will take alot of pressure of having to move up or go LT in the first

NEVER MIND

Here is my train of thought:

I'm using Atlanta as an example but there are teams in similar situations.

Atlanta has 11 draft picks and only 1.7M in cap room. They will have to shuck players, I'm hoping some of their shucks are better than some on our active roster.

San Francisco has 15 draft picks and 1.3M in cap space.... See where this is going?

To cut to the chase, I believe there will be quality players released after the draft... By quality I mean a player at a position better than what we have at that position.

The NFL trade deadline is not till week 6 I believe, so it's very plausible that our depth chart will look different before week 1, with names not in the draft or FA.

Unless I am wrong. Then it appears I just wasted 5 minutes of your life that you can't get back. :-)
