Have to earn it.

Salary cap leveled the field.

If that were the case and the direction the NFL would like to take the game and especially its competitive side... then there'd really be no need to even have a draft - just inject all the collegiate players into the FA pool.

Then if you wanted to reward success, you could assign more salary cap to a team designated by how high they were in the final results - or vise versa if you wanted to level the field.

The NFL is not interested in competition, they are interested in revenue. Inject the draft class into FA and the NFL doesn't get to sell commercial time during the draft. Or get sponsor money from those god awful caps they put on players.

See how your gut feels after this.

Tie for WC
Saints 9-6
Falcons 9-6

49ers play the Falcons the final game of the season, 49ers bench their starters and Falcons win and get into the playoffs and we get screwed.

I just do not see any balance being brought to the league by worst record gets highest draft.
Well they woulda been an awful lot worse without it.

The biggest impact would still be at the other end where the strong get stronger. We have that issue in other sports (especially in Europe) and it is a big put off if you are not an aficionado of the strong team already.

Or we could change the Saints/ xxx name's around... It's all part of the game and like I tell my kids, "Fair's where you take your pigs in August." If you wanna be in the playoffs play like it all season. I'll take it, but I don't like backing into the post season all that much.

When you have to rely on a another team for your fortune - you haven't really done your job properly and deserve the hand you're dealt.

At least that is how I feel about that.

Re: NFL Draft Oder

It's a combination of when you pick and who you pick. If you don't have qualified people making those decisions you won't improve. The number of top 10 picks you get doesn't mean anything.

Look at how many changes the Colts made all the way around that season, Coach and all.

I wouldn't discount winning for a sick coach as excellent motivation either. Opponents also went into that game
thinking it would be cake.
