Revis to Nolia ?

With the Jets recently showing strong interest in RB Chris Ivory ( And For Good Reason I'd hate to see him go ) perhaps we should consider what deal we could strike , asking them for 2nd Rounder is a hefty price considering Ivory's brief stint with the Saints.

Perhaps We should surrender an additional pick along with Ivory for Revis ? Hell , that's alot more than what Tampa is offering for him !

The numbers may not crunch just right but if we could backload his contract , it will save us temporarily from Cap Hell while allowing him to first prove himself before significant money can be lost or gained ... Just a thought

Butler , Vilma , Lofton and Hawthorne are going to be Huge this year in the 3 - 4 , add the help from Leonhard ( Better than Harper ) and Keenan Lewis Revis would be a total Revamp Defensively !

Do we have the stones to pull the trigger though ?

Even backloaded, do we have the $$$ to pull the trigger?

Yeah thats a tough one there but darn it would change so much in the Playoffs !

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Heck offer him the Contract we were going to give to Nnamdi ... Just backload it

Seer1 04-13-2013 09:41 PM

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

I'd say backloaded with most of it being performance based.

CB's don't win Championships.

Especially those who are media-hyped to no end.

Outside of the holdout, Revis has never had negative press in the NY papers. From everything you read, he has never been a bad guy in the clubhouse as well.

If we are going to play more man-to-man this year, I could not think of a better player than Revis. Will he be as good as he was, time will tell. But he can still be a major force in the secondary.

I'm not sure we have the cap space, but I'm confident that Loomis can figure it out. I would also have to think the Jets would at least want next years first rounder for him.

We don't have the money, Pop! (Arrested Development reference).

No way the Jets give us a 2nd rounder for Ivory. I'd be super excited if we could get a 4th...THEN WHY DON'T YOU MARRY AN ICE CREAM SANDWICH!

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

No way Sean Payton would pay a cb that much money and we don't have any cap space for his salary and we don't have the extra picks to give up!
NO WAY IT HAPPENS! plus last I checked Revis likes talking to the media!

Leighton B 04-14-2013 12:22 AM

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Jets will give us a 3rd rounder and it's a top 3rd at that for Ivory! But all this Revis **** is bogus no way we have the cap space to lock him up so it's not logical to think we can get him nor would Sean want his media made hype "he does to much media jockeying"

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Revis wants an average of 14 million a year. I can't see how the Saints can massage that into the cap. I'm sure they may be a way to fit it into 2013, but sooner or later it's going to be a hit the team cannot afford to absorb. I think believing the Saints will trade for Revis is delusional.

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

I dont care if we could afford 12-14ml a year for a CB,i wouldnt want to see us pay it.Go and get a corner in the draft, not pay huge money for asoon to be 28 year old coming off torn knee ligaments.

Anyone use Google? Jets and Bucs have been engaged with the Revis trade discussion for a while.

Jets keep changing the target

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Revis also wants a new contract every year.... Too much of a headache.

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

yeah it is scary thought. while i like revis i question his health and i really do not want to deal with ego he has.

he is not in in prime and let the jets or the bucs deal with the cap hit of what? 14 mill yeah right. 2014 is going to be fun enough without this crap.

ivory for
swapping thirds and a fourth is cool
swapping thirds and swapping fourth and a fifth is cool

i really want to see that third round swap as the key. getting ahead of the bucs and niners would be huge

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

I can't take this thread seriously as picking up someone like Revis now would make the future cap dealings even more challenging than what they are at the moment. Loomis already needs to re-sign Graham the next offseason and several players will see their salaries hike up due to the nature of their backloaded contracts - they don't need to add Revis to all of that as well.

So by that reasoning we should have spent 32 million on our backup safety?

I would not deal Ivory to the Jets for a later round pick, it doesn't make sense. 3rd round maybe nothing later.

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Ivory not worth much more than a third, if that. Previous injuries make him more likely to have another. Considering he is on the field less than half a season, one is better off platooning cheap, healthy FA's than giving up a value draft choice.

I think that if the Jets really wanted to jettison (pi) Revis, they would have done so already.

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

I believe I read somewhere, the Jets were going to offer a 4th round pick for Ivory...

I'd be more than happy if we get a 4th for the injury prone RB...

Nothing here tells me we need to spend that much money on a CB

I was not advocating for it.

He could still be a difference maker. But there are so many other holes to fill, Jimmy Graham's up coming contract, that I don't think its a good idea. But, if Loomis can make the numbers work, why not?

Re: Revis to Nolia ?

Brutal idea. Last thing we need to address right now with that much money and cap space. Injury history, contract whining history, twitter fighting history = no thanks for that kind of money. This guy is more hype than anything.
