Why Brooks has to go...

Brooks sucks, and it has nothing to do with race, or talent. Brooks can throw a ball a long way, but he is not a leader. A team needs a leader, and Brooks is not that.

Delhomme is less talented than Brooks, but if football has taught us anything, it's that heart can multiply talent. It still bothers me that we chose Brooks over Jake.

Yes, the talented offensive line wasn't that great. Yes, our very talented recievers dropped some balls. Yes, very talented McAllister had a sub par performance. They were all uninspired. Everyone that should have been supporting Brooks didn't. Why? Brooks supporters are quick to point out that it's not Brook's job to block or catch, or run routes. It's not even his job to inspire those to do so. They get paid to do that, and they are professionals. But a winning quarterback WILL inspire his team and provide passion and will and guts if he wants to be on a championship team.

Brooks was shown on the sidelines all throughout the game, with a smile on his face, hands crossed, looking like he didn't have a care in the world. After the game, he was walking around smiling, and joking with Seattle players.

An appropriate quote from Vince Lombardi: "Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser".

when been there done that with this discussion... So we have to get rid of Deuce because he isn\'t the leader as well... and then there goes Stallworth, Williams, Pathon, I\'ll give ya Horn but... wait does that mean the Ravens have to give up Ray Lewis because they lost and he is there leader?

Why Brooks has to go...

To summarize,

This team needs a new attitude and many think that can be achieved by replacing the one man on this roster who epitomizes the expression laid-back.

I saw a QB fight last night. He never gave up and you could see it rub off on his teammates. If he was going down he was going down swingin cussin and spittin...
I think JT takes over next year if this heartless attitude continues to permeate this gutless team.

In other words the same old yadda yadda. BTW you\'re admitting that he in fact has talent right?

Thanks.

really the same old yadda yadda. Let it go man! That train left the station 18 months ago.

Now we get to the real interesting part...

(sarcasm on) Because it\'s all Brooks fault. (sarcasm off)

So let me get this. Brooks is somehow supposed to get Deuce to run harder, to get Pathon to catch a perfectly thrown ball that hits his hands, to get Williams not to fumble? I presume that he does this through telepathy? By infusing his team with the spirit?

And of course Jake, or JT, (what about Bowman? :D) can somehow inspire people TO DO THEIR JOBS where Brooks can\'t.

Please please please give me a break!

I just cannot believe that someone will come on this forum this week and blame the one of the few guys who was in fact ready to play. The guy who took almost no preseason snaps. It\'s unbelievable.

OK. I\'ve got it now. And this is probably going to be my absolute last post on the subject of Brooks, because I now realize that\'s there nothing that can be said to change peoples minds about him. I actually think I understand now. Brooks haters have no empathy for him because he doesn\'t respond the same way that they would respond when things are not going well. That his personality is incompatible with the losing situation that the Saints often find themselves in since he doesn\'t play the tortured man or angry man role that many fans would play if they were in his position. And the likelyhood of his personality changing is just about as small as the chance of getting people to realize that if a player produces on the field then they should give a rat\'s a$$ less about their personality. I got it. Brooks is unsuitable to be an NFL QB because of his personality.

So there\'s no further point of discussion. I\'ve made up my mind to just agree to disagree and I won\'t respond to this crap anymore except to say the above: \"Brooks\' personality is unsuitable with being an NFL QB in many fans minds.\"

I\'m done.

I share your exasperatiion that Brooks supporters just REFUSE to change their minds about the guy. There\'s just nothing you can say to change their minds.

OK, so some don\'t get it. (see above) Although why the concept of a quarterback inspiring the players around him to excel is alien to ANY footballl fan, is dumbfounding to me.

Well, call me Kooky, but I think I can feel comfortable putting it on the Quarterback.
I don\'t give a flying doodoo wether it\'s Brooks or not.

I have NOTHING against Brooks personally. I\'m sure he\'s a great guy, but \"laid back\" doesn\'t\" get you to the top in a competetive sport. Be laid back off the field, not during a game.

My problem with Brooks is his attitude. Brooks supporters seem to want to make it a personal issue, or a talent issue or even worse, a RACE issue.

Brooks supporters have no evidence that Brooks has the spirit necessary to lead this team to victory except a fading ememory of an oppenent dropping a ball to give us our first playoff win, and passing numbers that are high, because Brooks throws alot when we\'re behind.

I have acouple years of examples to show that he doesn\'t.

lets see the who teams attitude sticks so pick one guy and blame it on him... why don\'t people blame it on everyone. I think its the Coaches who wanted to clear the attitudes on the team and look where it got us. They cleaned house of what could have been some players with the attitude to fight and go down swinging. The resluts last night was Jake losing even though he was a leader? Well they are going to have to get rid of him because he didn\'t get the job done right? Not an effective leader right?

You actually are comparing Brooks who has been the same for three years, to Delhomme who went to the Superbowl last year? Delhomme has shown he could do it. Blind faith with contrary evidence keeps you in Brooks\'s corner.

Why oh why do I torture myself? I must like the pain.

Quote:

You\'re right. He has been the same the last 3 years, a Pro Bowl caliber QB in arguably the toughest division in the game. I agree with you. A QB who was top 10 in every passing stat, #1 in least INTs thrown last year, improved in every passing category, who as 3 of the top five seasons ever offered by a QB in this franchise.

Yeah, about the same.

Quote:

to Delhomme who went to the Superbowl last year?
See this is where you miss the point. The Carolina Panthers went to the SB last year. A top 10 defense with a coordinated rushing attack went to the SB. Jake didn\'t do it by himself though he acquitted himself quite well in crunch time when he had to step up.

No. eye opening reality. The NFL is the ultimate team sport. It\'s a game where even if you are the best ever at your position (Elway for quite awhile, Marino to this day, Peyton?, McNair, McNabb) that you cannot do it all by yourself. A sport where one hit wonders can in fact win the SB because the team is in the right situation. It\'s about 53 players, coaches, and front office working their collective tails off 365.25 days a year to bring together something special in a short 20 week span.

So I have to trot out my tired quote:

\"Brooks\' personality is unsuitable for an NFL QB in many fans\' minds.\"

you are missing the point the debate here is getting rid of a leader or a good QB... I merely stated since Jake lost last night they need to get rid of him because he wasn\'t an effect leader, I didn\'t compare the 2 at all...
