New Orleans Saints Re-Sign Restricted Free Agent RB Chris Ivory

1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Friday that restricted free agent running back Chris Ivory has signed his tender offer.

Ivory, 6-0, 222, first joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin (Ohio) in 2010. He earned a spot out of camp on the team’s 53-man roster and led the team in rushing in 2010, carrying 137 times for 716 yards (5.2 avg.) with five touchdowns and was a consensus NFL all-rookie selection. In three seasons with the Saints, the Longview, Texas native has carried 256 times for 1,307 yards (5.1 avg.) and eight touchdowns. Ivory’s 5.1 yards per carry average ranks third in franchise record books. In 2012, he appeared in six games with two starts and carried 40 times for 217 yards (5.4 avg.) with two touchdowns, including a 56-yard scoring run that was the longest run by a Saint since 2006.

Run him early and often till he craps out, then finish off the season with Ingram and Thomas.

I was kind of looking forward to a draft pick. Oh well we still have a good running back.

I hope they still trade him to be honest, hell of a player and exciting to watch but he's never healthy, id rather have the draft pick

Also this. They better not just keep him tucked away this year. I want him on the field against Atlanta.

From what I've read earlier, he can not be traded now that he's signed his tender.

That was from some respected posters, but they could be wrong. I couldn't verify anything on-line concerning trading players after they've signed their tender.

We had until today to trade him. Once he signed it, he's ours for the year.

I'll dig some more but this one is elusive.

would have liked to get that pick, but having a stable full of horses doesn't hurt either.

Now I'm reading that yes we can trade him (from some of the same that said we couldn't :bang: )

And I've heard that the Jets have made us an offer for him already.

Jets have made an offer for Saints RB Chris Ivory, who signed his RFA tender today. #NYJ still wants to trade for him, per sources.

Wasn't Tusk an UDFA anyway? A fourth would be a heckuva good return on that investment

Chris Ivory - RB - Saints

NEWS: ESPN New York's Rich Cimini gets the sense that the Chris Ivory-to-Jets trade is "likely to happen."

ANALYSIS: "I think the Jets would gladly do it for a fifth-rounder," tweeted Cimini. The Saints are eyeing a fourth-round pick, but they'd likely settle for a fifth. Ivory is stuck behind Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas in New Orleans, and the Saints want to get something for him before he can walk in free agency next year. There's a real chance a deal could happen.

Well if the Jets do trade for him, at least we won't have to play against him this year.;)

Re: New Orleans Saints Re-Sign Restricted Free Agent RB Chris Ivory

He now can be traded before he was technically a free agent under a restriction of a 2nd rd pick but now we can trade him for the best pick we can get not restricted to a certain 2nd rd because the Jets pick 39 and it's obviously to high to give up for Ivory so hopefully they'll give us they're 3rd or a combination of later picks!

Keep him for trade bait for AFTER the draft or even into preseason

The shape the Jets are in, they won't even make the play-offs

Re: New Orleans Saints Re-Sign Restricted Free Agent RB Chris Ivory

I'd take the 5th still.
He is going to walk for nothing next year, sits 4th on the depth charts and eats 2ml this season we cannot really afford.Having the 8th and 11th pick in the 5th round looks good to me.A couple of good prospect will fall as teams reach and we can pick up some good talent. The option is there aswell that if the right player of sitting there at the end if the 4th start if the 5th we can use both to trade up.

Re: New Orleans Saints Re-Sign Restricted Free Agent RB Chris Ivory

I'm hoping for a 4th rounder in exchange for Ivory, but I guess a 5th would be acceptable since the move would also open up $2M in cap room as well.

They signed him to a one year deal so he should be around...

I like his skill set. Great running back.
