Report: Jets made an offer for Saints RB Chris Ivory

sooner or later we will cut bait and send him off, love the guys heart but the injurie list for half a season or more is like deja vu here we go again.

People seem to forget that trading Ivory would not only land the Saints a draft pick, but as importantly; it would reduce their salary cap by $2M.

It would make sense to move Ivory now, since the Saints have multiple capable RBs already and they would lose him at the end of the year anyways, because the Saints wouldn't sign him as an UFA.

Agreed

Might aswell get something for him now because

1. we have a stable of RB's
2. If we leave it until next year he's a free agent anyway and could just walk, get something for him atleast, I'd love a 3rd or 4th, It will probably be a 5th though

If only they could get another team to show real interest in the form of an offer, they might be able to wrestle a 4th out of the deal, but 5th would probably be acceptable all things considered.

Have to be patient.....

Ivory is not a workhorse back. Before the season starts someone will NEED him as a backup. Right now other teams may just have interest or want.

That being said. I'm not very enthused about facing Ivory in week 9. He needs to go somewhere we don't play.

What can we get with a 5th rounder?? That is way too low for a RB who will be a starter for the other team.

He is usually fine in week 9.
Injured by week 3, 5 week recovery, plays against us, injured in week 11, done for the season.

Averages 6 YPC all against us.

He's not gonna be a starter for the Jets, he's going into another commitee. He'll get more PT.... I think the Jets signed Mike Goodson ( who I would love to see get a whole season of work fantasy wise) but he's not very durable lately either.
