Trade Up for Dion Jordan ? If I Were GM

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; This is not a shallow draft and the Saints have a plethora of holes still left to fill and limited number of picks, so I wouldn't be for trading up....

No, that would be silly. But it's data that needs to be weighed on heavily just as all the other off season interviews and work outs that prospect go through. How else would you analyze draft picks? Pick a random name out a hat?

I was siding with you. Silly...

However, and this is just my opinion. There is a ton of over analyzation, along with a ton of exception to the rule examples. Drafting is more of an art than a science.

If you gave me a charcoal briquet, sulfur, and salt peter, I can make gun powder.

If you give me a brush, paint, a canvas, and the Mona lisa.. I could not produce anything relatively close to that work of art.

There is no reproducible formula for the draft, if there was there would be 32 teams doing the same thing and all doing it well.

I realize the truth is not as much fun...

Lets just say it's a good thing you are not the GM.

I think it would be really interesting to give the same amount of information to someone who has absolutely zero interest in football and ask them to pick a draft board and then analyze a few years later how their picks have come on, developed, busted or whatnot.

I really do sometimes think you might as well throw darts at a board full of names.

Everyone is great at picking a bust after having watched them for 2 years at the pro level!

Know of anyone that consistently wins at Fantasy Football year after year?

Even that is more art/luck ... It is an ever changing dynamic.

Also agree 100%.

But I don't view Jordan any better than I do Mingo or Jones or about 10-15 other front 7 prospects (or 3 or 4 DB's, or 4 or 5 offensive guys too)

I'd much rather have two 2nd round front 7 picks as opposed to only one in the top 10.

Unfortunately there will be very few teams that want to trade up, and a ton that want to trade down. We wouldn't get much in a tradedown in this year's draft.

Ideally I'd love a dounble trade down and pick up 3 2nd rounds and pick from a host of good looking DE/DT/CB/S prospects.

Re: Trade Up for Dion Jordan ? If I Were GM

i am all for trading out of round 1 all together for a couple of seconds this year and a second next year. sure there would need to be some other things done but i could live with it

heck getting multi picks in any round this year would be nice. this is a solid deep blue collar draft. some real nice offensive glamor risks late in the draft can pay off big time.

i always like more picks but this has to be one of the best drafts i have seen in a long time
