Just like Danno I do believe Hicks is better suited to being a DE in a 3-4. I think that with his body type he could become a DE in the way of Haloti Ngata became this past season for the Ravens. Then you could rotate him to the interior for obvious passing downs while positioning him by default on the other side opposite to Jordan. I just think that Hicks doesn't have the body type to be an effective 0-gap or 1-gap NT because I don't think he can create enough leverage against most centers who tend to have lower centers of gravity - that's where someone like Bunkley will shine the brightest.

But the Saints can definitely pick up a space eating NT to rotate with Bunkley with a lower round pick, and they do need to add depth to that position whether it be through the draft, veteran free agents or the UDFA pool.

I've been saying that too, but apparently Rob likes'em athletic. Hicks is definitely that. Plus he's not that tiny.

I could see it. If we do go BPA and get an offensive weapon I would like to see us pick Tayvon Austin and let Drew host a track meet.

Tavon is the one leaving the boards early..... In a suprise it seems to be Cordelle Patterson that is falling in most of recent mocks I've seen.... Do you think Shawn would be able to contain himself if Patterson makes it to #15

Not factors include : another team takes him, we take another player, he dies, Jarvis wins Powerball, Goodell takes the pick away.

God bless you Crab!

You are top five on my Black&Gold draft board for life.

I will be shocked if Eifert is available at 15.

I see teams valuing him above Cordarelle.

I don't value him that high. I do see teams doing crazy things every year on draft day.

I say the Jets pick him. QB sucks but we paid him tons of money? Give him an "easy" target.

I think he's picked late 1st RMS, however with the sudden popularity of the 2-TE sets, I wouldn't be shocked if he was gone when we picked, but I would be a little bit surprised.

About Eifert per cbssports.com:

Quote:

WEAKNESSES: Has done a nice job adding weight to his frame, but appears maxed out physically. Lacks elite quickness in his break to consistently separate and is still growing as a route-runner. Has good, but not great, straight-line speed and can be caught from behind by linebackers. Will have some dropped passes at times and, while not a large concern, has room to improve his focus through the catch. Still growing as a blocker and needs to use better angles.
Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

That sounds almost exactly like someone already wearing the black & gold, so I guess a team picking him couldn't go too wrong.

Also, there seems to be a quite a big dropoff in the TE talent pool after Eifert - only Ertz and Kelce might be among the TEs taken in the first two rounds and even Kelce is bit of an uncertain commodity not having participated in the combine. Escobar and Reed are pretty much the only other TEs I've seen listed as potential 2nd rounders, but unlikely ones in any case.
