Recent history shows New Orleans Saints can find play-maker at No. 15 in NFL draft

"I think being in the middle of the first round is a good spot," Loomis said. "It gives you some flexibility, and yet you know you are going to have the opportunity to select a good player if we just sit tight, somebody that we have confidence in, that can come in and help us immediately as well as be a good player long term for us."

History could be on the Saints' side of finding a highly productive player on either side of the football gauging by the last 15 years of picks at No. 15. If you look at the past six years alone, it would be difficult to argue that any picks at No. 15 were anything other than a success.

2012 - DE Bruce Irvin, Seahawks

2011 - C Mike Pouncey, Steelers

2010 - DE Jason Pierre-Paul, Giants

2009 - LB Brian Cushing, Texans

2008 - T Branden Albert, Chiefs

2007 - LB Lawrence Timmons, Steelers

2006 - CB Tye Hill, Rams

2005 - LB Derrick Johnson, Chiefs

2004 - WR Michael Clayton, Bucs

2003 - DE Jerome McDougle, Eagles

2002 - DT Albert Haynesworth, Titans

2001 - WR Rod Gardner, Redskins

2000 - DB Deltha O'Neal, Broncos

1998 - LB Anthony Simmons, Seahawks

Its a great spot to pick. The pick isn't high dollar (especially after the new CBA) and historically the top 5-10 picks were QB's and skill position players.

At pick 15 is about where the LB's, CB's, Linemen and DB's were historically selected.

With the new rookie wage scales it's no longer taboo to select non-skill positions in the top 10.

We may have 2 OG's and 3 OT's picked in the top 10 this year. Can't say I remember that ever happening before.

I"m not even speculating on this years draft. This one is just wide open for crazy draft moves. I really don't think we're gonna stay where we are, I just have the feeling we're gonna be moving down for more picks later.

I know what you mean. I was furious in 2007 when Paul Posluszny was still aviable at 27 and we chose to draft another damn Tennessee WR.

yeah this could be a major change in drafting by teams. that and it also shows how the lack of real impact players in round 1 effects us this year. the mid range in round 1 is loaded with hype and the chance of bust is higher than most draft. buyer be ware

So, from looking at that list we should get an impact player at 15.

I hope they can find a play maker. I refuse to believe that there are not at least 15 of those in college right now.
