And how exactly are we going to pay Albert. He wants top 5 LT money even if we were to negotiate his longterm contract instead of paying him the Franchise tage money this yr which is 9.5mil.

Harper frees up 6-7mil and we have like a mil or 2 in cap space.....bu how are we going to pay the other draft picks?

Throwing out Harper questions today. If he's so bad, why does he keep leading the team in tackles? (Did Lofton pass him up last year?) Why hasn't he been cut yet? Even with some dead money issues, wouldn't that have still saved us some $$$? If he's so bad, who is gonna want to trade for him? Could it be that Rob has a plan for him? -They have their Wildcat offense, we have our Neck defense? Maybe he gets rejuvenated under Rob? Not in love with the guy or anything, just trying to get through to draft time...

He's overpaid.
He was signed as a crucial player in Gregg Williams' defense.
He's not nearly as bad as many think.
He plays Strong Safety.
He covers like a Strong Safety.
He's not a CB or a FS or a LB.
He has hands of stone, which may be insulting to some stones.
He fits best with a team that uses a traditional SS/FS set-up.
He plays great within 15 yards from the LOS, as do most SS's.
If we cut him he'd be unemployed less than 2 weeks.
At his salary he's probably not gonna draw much trade interest.
He blows very few plays every year, but when he does its ugly.

Re: Drew Brees might’ve spilled beans on Chris Ivory trade

no harper is not on my hit list at all. i am just looking at options that not only free cap but helps get players to fill a void in the draft

depending on the contract the Albert really wants is another story. i know his stand with KC and i think its kinda of a broken nose if KC goes for an OT an want him to play RT cutting his contract demands for next year. Now i am guessing if he is traded to a team like new orleans he might be a little more open to being flexible with his contract. so maybe harper for albert would be a wash

yes hand grenades and horse shoes going on here

We can manage at RT but the chance to have the whole O-Line under contract for the foreseeable future.

I don't think we can aford to go that direction. We are too porous on defense and need to use our limited draft picks to bring in guys who fit RR scheme.
