Nugget on Armstead

Love the pick. Rare breed. Those who wanted defense can relax. Plenty of talent available

. 04/21/13 - ROB RANG'S 2013 NFL DRAFT DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH: Terron Armstead, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 6-5, 306, 4.65 ... The dazzling straight-line speed Armstead demonstrated at the combine caught the public by surprise but not scouts who saw him dominate competition at the East-West Shrine Game and impress as a late injury replacement at the Senior Bowl, as well. Unlike many small school prospects who simply latch on with whatever program will give them an opportunity, Armstead was recruited by a number of big schools, opting to play with Golden Lions because they were the only team willing to let him compete in track, as well as football. Highly intelligent, a remarkable athlete and having demonstrated the ability to raise his level of play against elite competition, Armstead could earn a shockingly high draft selection.

There's one of our future OT's. I am still concerned about LT this year though.

Re: Nugget on Armstead

The game tape during the Nfl draft presentation on this guy was crazy he pulled a Michael Oher blind side kick out block taking a de to the cheerleaders lol , all of his clips weren't of him barely holding up but of him destroying the defender ... This years jimmy graham , start em now !

Re: Nugget on Armstead

I know Mayock really liked him. He went as far to say that he has the potential to be one of the best tackles in this draft. That says a lot considering how many have gone in the first few rounds. This is a really good pick.

Re: Nugget on Armstead

This sounds like a very good pick. Pretty awesome speed and physique, if he can't start on the OL, then he might be a nice blocking specialist going into the game as tackle-eligible like Strief used to. Could be asset on those outside sweeps and little screen passes to Sproles. Nice!

Re: Nugget on Armstead

And also not to mention a guy with this size/height/speed combo could come in handy on special teams.

Re: Nugget on Armstead

now i can understand the pick and risks involved him. he was not my first pick a OT but it still made sense. the upside is there and we have a good track record with developing OL players like him

SP needs whoever is doing the personnel choices on offense to make the defense picks as well. cause right now i am @#$#$#@ with our DC.

I said months ago I hope we got this guy in a couple of the mock drafts. So I'm happy to see that he's a Saint.

Well I do for one. Mayock is usually one of the better guys at predicting success in the draft.

Mayock is probably one of the most intelligent people who cover the entire NFL, he knows scouting, he knows drafting and to be honest he isn't wrong about many things

If he is excited about our picks considering how much he knows, then so am I

Re: Nugget on Armstead

All sounds good BUT we lost the O Line coach who had molded all of those players. Will our O Line suffer with a new coach?
