Congratulations to Joe Horn, Duece Mcallister, Micheal Lewis, and Fred Mcafee for making the pro bowl.

Hey Brooks lovers, where\'s he on that list?! JUST KIDDING!! Ha ha. Just had to throw that in. I\'m really glad Deuce didn\'t get over looked! Didn\'t McAfee go once before as a special teamer? I thought he did, but now I\'m reading articles to the contrary

I dont think alternates are chosen yet. I dont know when they do that

Hey \"WHODAT\", where\'s you your \"MR. Clinic\" huh? I don\'t see Donte\'s name anywhere on the list? Hmmmmm
;)

I think the players selected all deserve those spots. They earned them. Especially Duece and Lewis. No one expected this kind of year out of either.

And even though Aaron\'s had a respectable year, at least stat and win-loss wise, I just can\'t say that he is tops in his category. At least not yet. But I do believe that there are Probowls in his future. Hopefully with the SAINTS.

Congrats Michael, Duece, Joe and Fred.

Go SAINTS!!!!!

hey saintfan what is \"MR. Clinic\" ????? Donte is a rookie. I said he would be rookie of the year not a pro bowler in his rookie season. He will be a pro bowler very very soon though.

I believe he was talking about Donte Culpepper. He didn\'t make the pro bowl this year... but if memory serves, he did within his first two years as a starter... I could be wrong though.

what i dont understand is where are the saints linemen on the probowl list? turley? bentley? what gives? we have the NFCs leading rusher, and the NFL\'s TD leader in brooks, but no one blocking for either of these guys makes it? what gives?

pakowitz 12-20-2002 12:08 AM

Congratulations

and what is this crap with michael vick being on the roster? yea, he led his team to wins but geez people, he only has about 2300 yards passing and only 13 passing TDs, and jeff garcia too? wtf?

Brooks leads the highest-scoring offense in the NFC at 29.5 points a game. He has thrown 26 touchdown passes, which ties him at No. 1 in the league.

Jeff Garcia has six less touchdown passes and his offense is averaging a touchdown less a game.

I was speaking about Cuplepper. Since WHODAT seems to think he\'s the greatest thing since sliced bread, I figure he\'d have something to say regarding the fact that he\'s not going to the pro bowl. :P

WhoDat 12-20-2002 10:27 AM

Why is it that when I say (and let\'s remember I didn\'t even start that thread) that Brooks could have learned a lot by watching Culpepper, all of a sudden I think Culpepper is the best thing since sliced bread. Again, I ask people to read what is written. Don\'t add to it or take away from it. Thanks.

As for the Pro Bowl selections, it\'s all about popularity - not production. Remember, fans, media, coaches, and players all have a say in who goes. That\'s why Faulk went again this year instead of Tiki Barber, who had more yards and TDs (I think). Brooks just isn\'t popular enough to go.

the fan vote counts for almost nothing.....the voting is very screwed up. they make you think it is split into thirds among the players, coaches, and fans....but the fan vote only counts as 1 and only in a tiebreaker.........this is what kyle turley said...

I am the one who started the post about Culpepper being better than Brooks and if you want me to tell you again I will. Culpepper is BETTER than Brooks. I dont care about his numbers this year. Look at his numbers 2 years ago when he had an avg. line a solid RB and only 2 weapons at WR.

Brooks had a better line, more weapons, the #1 RB in the NFC and still had an avg. year.

I know I know he is #1 in TD passes, but he is 15th in QB rating. He is behind Culpepper in yards (who are the WR in Minn???) Brooks is 28th in comp % Culpepper 21st. At the begining of the year Culpepper had pretty much no OL and since he only has 1 WR he was told to force it to him. So yes he has bad numbers cause he was forcing the ball.

However, did you notice Culpepper has 500 rushing yards and 9 TDs?

Brooks had the way more talented team and didnt put up much better numbers than Culpepper. Culpepper has almost 350 more total yards and only 3 less TDs. So if you want to sit here and tell me about how great Brooks is why isnt he going to Hawaii and why could he not put up better numbers than a guy on a losing team with only 1 WR? Kinda makes you wonder.

I know I will get bashed but I dont see why you guys defend Brooks so much. Yes he is one of the most talented QBs we have ever had, but alot of his sucess is because we FINALLY have a great team all around. Well at least on the offensive side!

an avg line? are u crazy, they had 3 probowl offensive linemen ( jeff cristy, randall mcdaniel, and korey stringer) on their team 2 of which left for tampa bay the following year!! and one who sadly passed away. 2 weapons at wr? oh yea, only randy moss and cris carter. solid rb? robert smith, made the probowl several times and is the minn vikings all time rushing leader

brooks having a avg year? he leads the NFL in TD passes, but its only an avg. year
he broke the saints record for passing TDs which he broke last year, but its only an avg. year
he has over 3500 yards passing, but its only an avg year

geez, give me a break, u just need to give it up cuz u know nothing of what u are talking about

SycoSurfer 12-21-2002 02:12 PM

You have proven my point for me. Culpepper has a solid team and he had OUTSTANDING numbers. He has lost alot and thats why his numbers are suffering. Brooks has arguably 3 probowl OL Turley, Jacox, Bentley. WR-Horn, Pathon, Stallworth not as good as Carter and Moss, but when you put Stallworth on a 3rd corner he can equal up to a Carter type player. Not to mention Deuce is just as solid as Smith. Then we have 2 pass catching TEs if Brooks knew how to use them.

Brooks still has a solid team and it is getting better while his numbers arent. He has a more explosive RB, better WRs and better OL than last year and he isn\'t playing better.

Culpepper has had to deal with alot of losses and thats why his production is going down, but he is still making things happen on a team with not much to work with. Brooks has everything to work with and he is having an AVG. year for the talent we have on this team.

His Comp % down... he is on pace to have less yards. He will have more TDs and less Ints which is an improvement, but he SHOULD have better numbers than this. If you do not think so then why bring in Pathon, Sloan, Stallworth? I mean last year we did just as good with Willie Jackson who at last glance was on what his 3rd team this year? If you are not upset with the lack of improvment you need to give me a break cause you dont know what you are talking about.

You need to get off your Brooks love fest and look at how he is playing. Yes he is getting better, but if we have to bring in 3 weapons a year and only see marginal improvment this is crazy. We could have saved alot of money by not getting Pathon or Sloan kept Willie Jackson and started Boo Williams instead of drafting Donte got Ed Reed, Napoleon Harris, or Phillip Buchannon. Then maybe Brooks could have an AVG year and our D would be better. We spent all this money to help out Brooks and he hasnt delivered! As much as you dont like to hear it it is true.

I might not love him like you do but if he plays sub par Im not gonna try to defend him. If all you can say is he is 1st in TD passes and he has over 3500 yards ( 3224 but its not my fault you cant count) then dont bother. His Comp % down with the increase of weapons, and his yards looking like they are going to be down? His QB rating is 15th! How can you praise him? He is still a good QB but he SHOULD be playing better.

Pak - c\'mon man. No one is saying that Brooks isn\'t talented. Certainly, there are more important issues to be dealt with on this team.

Brooks is eigth in the league in passing yards. Do you think their are 8 other teams in the league with more weapons?

Interestingly, Jake is listed in the top 30 in passer rating on the NFL\'s web site and Brooks isn\'t rated.

Look at what a guy like Feely, a rookie, has done at Philly. Personally, I think he\'s playing better ball than Brooks, and it\'s not like Duce Staley, James Thrash, and Antonio Freeman can even compare to our Deuce, Horn, and Pathon.

Here\'s how I think about it. Think about the job a QB could do on a team with no weapons. Look at what Favre has done with essebtially a bunch of nobodies. You know their names now and it\'s because of Favre. If you put Brooks on that team, my guess is they\'re no better than our record right now fighting for a wild card. If you were to put Favre on our team, I think we\'d be at least two games better.

If nothing else, are you telling me that you\'re not at least interested in seeing what Jake could do as a starter?

pakowitz 12-22-2002 02:43 AM

Congratulations

no, im not

i think jake is a fine qb but i dont see anything wrong with the qb that we have except for a few miscues here and there which every qb has, no one is perfect

A few miscues here are there??????? One day you may see the light Pak.

syco, are you starting that culpepper junk again? leave it alone. he if a good qb in the middle of the pack.

congrats to the saints who are pro bowl bound..........well deserved

first of all, i\'d like to welcome myself to the site and wish everyone a happy holliday season. now, down to business. let jake throw the ball for just one game. i\'m interested to see what he\'s got. we all saw him a few years back, but now is a different time. jake seems to get respect from the players, and more importantly, seems to have some fire inside him. i think if jake blew the bengals game the way aaron did, he\'d be pissed off at himself instead of smiling it off. if haslett had even an ounce of fire inside him, he\'d bench any player who has it inside of him to laugh off a loss like that one. that goes for any and every player.
